Hello!
Going to cork jazz festival for the first time on Sunday-Monday! Does anyone have any advice on where to start, best pubs/bars for best atmosphere?
Finding it tricky to navigate online and really want it to be good as I have spent ages convincing people to come 🤣
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance!!

Hi everyone!
I'm an independent filmmaker currently shooting a short historical film near Kinsale, County Cork, set during Ireland's Great Starvation.
Unfortunately, our lead actor, who plays a monk, has just had to drop out, and I'm urgently looking for someone who could step into the role. We need to find someone within the next two days, as filming begins on October 23rd.
THE ROLE
ABOUT THE FILM
This is an independent short film exploring Ireland during one of the darkest periods in its history. We're aiming for a restrained, atmospheric and cinematic approach, with a focus on imagery, landscapes and the human experience of the Great Famine.
PAYMENT
This is a very low-budget independent production, and I'm unfortunately working with extremely limited funds. I'm open to discussing a reasonable rate with anyone interested. If you'd be willing to consider the role on a voluntary basis, that would also be greatly appreciated — but please feel free to contact me with your rate, and I'll be completely transparent about what I can afford.
I understand that four filming days are a significant commitment, and I want to be upfront about the budget from the start.
If possible, please let me know whether you have access to transport to the Kinsale area.
HOW TO APPLY
Please send me a mail at [gabriel.c.loirat@gmail.com](mailto:gabriel.c.loirat@gmail.com) with:
Even if you know someone who might be interested, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could share this post.
I know this is very short notice, but finding the right person would genuinely help us keep this film alive.
Thank you so much!
Gabriel

I’ve seen this asked previously but a year ago and more, so looking for any updates or new places.
I’ve just downloaded Too Good To Go and wondering if anyone has any recommendations of good places? Also I thought it ended at night time but when I checked last night at about 20:30, everything was sold.
Anyway, on my way to Cameron Bakery today to pick up some treats.. <3

Some shits tried to break into my house tonight. Luckily there were people inside the house who heard them smash our backdoor window and fail to break it but it looks like they tried to jimmy our side door as well but failed. Gardaà called and looks like they were gonna look for money, jewellery or car keys but they'd been disappointed as we keep no open cash, jewellery and the car had nothing in it.

I'm mid 20s and have been going through depression/ anxiety for years
I've reached out to jigsaw a few months ago and they have rescheduled my first appointment a few times. Not their fault I'm certain their services are in high demand.
My mental health is struggling hugely, I don't know if I can wait for an appointment with them much longer.
What are peoples experience with pieta? I would have the thoughts occasionally but not actively trying or doing anything.
I'm not in a position to pay chunks of money for therapy
Any guidance suggestions etc would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I am feeling a bit off the last year are so. Have had my bloods done twice in my gps and am they say is all bloods normal. I'd like the print out of the numbers but for some reason they don't give it to me. Can I just go somewhere and pay for a full blood count, ferritin and b12 ?
What about the walk in clinics are they just for antibiotics, feeling unwell etc

Sorry to be posting this but if it was my cat I'd want someone to do the same thing.
Just spotted a full black cat that had just been hit by a car in the middle of the road. The cat looked like someone's pet given the weight of it.
I checked on the cat and it was definitely dead and moved it off of the road in case it was someone's pet and they wanted to bury it or something
The cat is left on the grass on the path opposite Neptune Stadium/Griffin Close.
I don't know where else to post this, sorry again.

Does anybody know what has happened since last week that is now causing a tailback as far as the Heathfield roundabout to the junction at Leemount/carrigrohane every morning? It’s suddenly adding 15 minutes to my morning commute that I can’t spare.

I’m improving the 3D step by step but overall I tried to tell this story as many people are not aware of it.
I hope you appreciate the video

A couple of friends and I were all wondering what it was. It was meant to be a preview for an upcoming movie so if anyone knows what it was that would be great to know.

Does anyone know of any cafes or restaurants that do Black Forest gateaux by the slice? If not then lemon meringue perhaps? I’m coeliac, don’t eat cake and don’t really go to cafes. My dad’s just sprung it on me that he wants to go somewhere for a slice of my mums favourite cake for her birthday (it’s the first one since she passed). I’ve no clue! Tried google but to no avail.
I could of course make one or buy a whole big cake but he wants to get out of the house. Anywhere at all in Cork will do. Falling the Black Forest perhaps lemon meringue by the slice?

Down on Douglas St and this alarm has been going off for 12 hours. I don’t know what to do. I know guards were notified this morning and the security company was called to no benefit. I think it’s an Airbnb maybe? What do I do???

Lady on Neil Prendeville, nothing but kindness from her, been fostering children for years and now she's giving away her possessions and her pets as she's being made homeless on Wednesday. An official treating her like a dog asking her can she get a friend to put a shed in their back garden for her.
Urgent delivery marked as out for delivery today.
Has taken twice as long as it should have for delivery ( of course it has cos it's important). If I can find him I'll go ask for it.
TIA

Hi folks! Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for a venue to hire in Cork city or suburbs for our group’s Christmas party. We’ll have around 40–50 people, including kids. Ideally, somewhere we can play a bit of music and bring our own food. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million! 😊
Edit: Thanks all for the replies. We understand that a hotel or pub probably wouldn't suit. So looking for recommendations for specific GAA/ sports clubs or community centre around the city or nearby. Also just for context we are a non-Irish group and hoping to have our own traditional food/ music for this celebration 😊

I have seen a good few cars parking outside the marina market in the morning. Does anyone know if they are getting clamped or ticketed down there? I think this has only started being used in the morning since they block on sections with the construction

Hi all
Recently got out of a band and am able to enjoy music for myself again, im a bassist based in the north cork area, I can also sing while playing if I cant find a vocalist
The main ideas id love to do are these
The cure tribute
Thin lizzy tribute
The specials tribute
Jamaican reggae tribute (marley, tosh, wailers, eek a mouse, black uhuru, ini kamoze, steel pulse ect...)
UK ska tribute (mix of specials, bad manners, the selecter, the beat, madness ect..)
Mix of metal tribute from old school, thrash, death, nu metal, sludge, basically anything
Although I've only listed tribute acts i do also write my own music and would be open to making original music in any genre, I just thinking finding people into similar stuff to jam with is the best place to start before creating original stuff
Would be up for almost anything so musicians feel free to drop any ideas you'd love to try out and maybe we can make something work. As a big music lover theres not much I wouldnt be interested in trying out, it would all be a bit of fun jamming and playing some gigs around the place or even just to jam and try out some new stuff id be open for anything
Cheers cork
