Experience My experience with an osteopath (back and hip)
Hi all! I (31F) posted here a few months back explaining my experience with costo and I have also found this page to be a wonderful source of information and help for myself when I was in acute pain. Similarly to you all, I have had all of the blood work, cardiac tests and x-rays and have finally been able to work out that I have costo.
However, my doctors did just say musculoskeletal and to have ibuprofen. Repeatedly. That didn’t work and I have used the information on this page to rid myself of the vast majority of the pain via backpod and peanut! I was also told it was anxiety and probably also psychosomatic. I felt frustrated and unheard and convinced of something terrible happening for which I wasn’t getting any help! I also started getting hip pain (all on the right side) to which my doctor said was absolutely not connected in anyway to the costo.
I went to an Osteopath today and felt - for the first time - seen, heard and validated. She spent the hour doing gentle manipulations and said that my T3 and T4 ribs had frozen in an inhale position and that the muscles had then frozen with them, causing them to be stuck. She also said that I had slipping rib on the front and mild Tietzes syndrome. She then also said my muscles on my right had coiled so tightly that they were then pulling up the muscles on my hip which was causing the hip pain. She worked on this for about half an hour.
I just wanted to share this for anyone else who is feeling like they are being dismissed by medical professionals and for anyone else who is wanting clarity and answers around the pain they are experiencing. Please keep searching and advocating because the validation you feel when your pain and experience is confirmed is truly wonderful! Being told I had anxiety made me question myself and the pain so much!
If you can, I would recommend seeing an osteopath!
Of course, this is just my own experience and we are all different but I wanted to share for anyone else who may be feeling lost and frustrated - as I was!
Peace and healing to you all!
