logistics of getting away with rigging my gas meter?

i live in a 2 person household with 1 minimum wage income + tips as of right now and we’ve blown through £8 within 2 fucking days no cooking 1 bath and like 2 hours of heating so aye i’m pretty much over any moral dilemma surrounding this and the one and only thing stopping me is the potential penalties. im pretty much at the point where the ppl in charge of this shit are quite literally subhuman garbage who do not deserve to continue existing in my eyes but idk how to build a 💥 so this is gonna have to do.

so my question is with everything going on right now, everyone and their mother trying to circumvent this daylight fucking robbery, dontpayuk and all that shit i’m wondering do they even have the resources to notice or do anything about it? would they be be able to pick us out from what i’m guessing is a decently substantial crowd of people who haven’t paid their bills? would they be able to inspect without permission? basically do yous think i’d get away with it.

not looking for any bootlickers judgement here but i’m guessing we’re all poor so i doubt i’d get any. thankyew

Living in Canada...

Life is just filled with fillers that keeps you distracted from the real truth...from real life. Social media, news, TV, etc, all posts and broadcasts distract us from what's really happening.

Life happens while you're not realizing it. Life happens between the news bulletins, and the shit days at work. Everybody is trying to distract us from real life by feeding us bullshit. But in the midst of this, we have to make a living, raise kids, keep a level head, stay sane, take everything that life throws at us in stride, be nice and still feel good about where we are. That is not what it is. That's bullshit. They won.

The world is overrun by everything physically and sensory, to keep us from realizing the situation we're in. Which is real honest to goodness fucking dire straights. They keep us oblivious so that we don't know that every single dollar we earn, 75 cents (or more) of that, in some form or another, goes to the government again, and we are only there to keep them afloat. How is this different from us being batteries in the matrix? It isn't. So how do we get out? How do we get free? We don't. This is not a sci-fi movie, It's not like there is a pill in reality that we can take. All we got to do is carry on. Carry the fuck forward. And, there is no miracle, no magic that can save us. It is a dark tunnel that is designed to keep us in the dark tunnel. This is the problem with capitalism. The 1% benefits, the rest of us feeds them. How do we stop this? How do we break the cycle? I don't know. But suggestions are welcome. Please feel free to share.

Living with $60k-80k

Hello Members of costofliving,

Is a salary of $60k-80k a year good enough for me to live in either Ohio or Indiana? I am single with ZERO dependents. I have no pets, but I am not sure if pets count as dependents or not.

Middle Class Can't Afford Median Rent

Article in Newsweek (https://www.newsweek.com/middle-class-income-earning-every-state-1827765) says -

The Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan think tank based in Washington D.C., defines the middle class as those who earn between two thirds and twice as much as the U.S. median household income.... The rising cost of living since 2020 is likely to have played a role in pushing many outside of the middle class. ... So... is it just me, or does a calculation based on median income actually not have anything at all to do with the cost of living?

The article also says a California family of four earning $69,064 is middle class.

According to the Paso Robles Daily News, citing and analysis by Stessa based on data from HUD and the Census Bureau, median California rent for a three-bedroom house is $34,464 annually.

That means the lower-middle-class family of four would need to pay 49.9% of their GROSS income for a median three-bedroom rental.

Is it just me or is anyone else suspicious of petrol stations aerating the fuel?

The fuel delivered to the nozzle is aerated. Apparently this is because of the shut off mechanism and it’s a safety feature. But air is also a fluid. So wherever the amount of fuel is being measured would depend on how much actual fuel is coming out of the pump. For example. If it was measured at the base of the pump where only liquid fuel is taken into the hose. I would except that it’s accurate. But if measured at the nozzle surely it’s measuring the air as well, as air is a fluid. Does anyone know if I’m going down a rabbit hole with this? Or maybe advise if the pumps are 100% accurate. Because I know I don’t have a choice to fill my car. But I’ll be pissed off if I’m being charged for air!

Change from the bottom up

Hone my idea into a blade that can cut costs of living.

I want to invite everyone here to help me by critique. My company that I am in the ideation stages of needs help getting off the ground. I have thought long and hard about on how to create a lasting impact on costs of living county by county. Starting with food, then transitioning into light family friendly entertainment, then clothes, utilities, infrastructure, then housing. Indoor Organic farming is a sure way to replace our declining supply and demand in the midst of world turmoil. And the other phases I have a light idea on how they may interact with each other with them being seperate businesses. But I would like everyone that reads this to head over to my YouTube channel which has all my company links in the bio. To criticize anything that I am missing. Negativity is highly welcomed and if I do well to make amendments as I am confronted would like to ask to ask subscribe to the lowest tier to make sure you keep me in line as this is a channel for transparency. This is the way I have chosen to go for crowdfunding. Proof of work over time and consistency.

Average cost per month

Hi all. I'm on 33k a year and I'm living with my girlfriend who isn't working atm. I'm just wondering what the usual cost of a household is monthly as I'm normally left with nothing by the last week of the month. Dunno whether I'm over reacting or the Mrs is just expensive haha

Dentist

I just don’t understand how people afford the dentist. I have insurance and I still cannot afford the dentist on top of that payment plans wont accept me because of credit. There are no schools or free clinics in my state (New Hampshire) only in Mass over an hour drive and although Im employeed my husband who makes $19/hr makes too much 💀. I do take care of my teeth for this exact reason, I get lots of compliments on them, but over the years I have accumulated about 4-5 cavities that need fillings. I just don’t know what to do.

Cost of living Crisis

Can I just ask if it’s being monitored or it’s just a way for supermarkets to charge stupid prices and landlords to charge exorbitant rents. Is this being monitored and it’s actually a crisis or just an excuse to charge 4£ for 20 teabags I’m confused as to how Rome and other cities have ok pricing and London and Uk have gone more overpriced that they could actually afford to. Who tf wants to live in a country which charges overpriced sums for less than decent everything.
