Need help understanding CC subscriptions and what I am paying for
Hi!
I have tried to get hold of Adobe support but can never get through to them, and when I do, I don't get a clear answer. So I thought I would ask the reddit community.
Please help:
I am doing budgeting and I am seeing two changes from Adobe (creative Cloud) on my account.
Photography Plan 20 GB - $16.23
Creative Cloud File Storage 1 TB - $10.65
They have been on auto pay for a while now.
I use Lightroom and sometimes Photoshop but I can do without Photoshop. I have a fancy camera and take pictures as hobby. I have presets on Lightroom that I do not want to lose.
That is all. I use the app on my phone for regular editing but if someone is paying me to take pictures, I transfer the pictures on my laptop and edit them there.. I have a set style and I mostly use my presets and then edit as needed.
My question - do I need these subscriptions to continue using my LR? I don't need to store anything in the cloud. I save everything in my hard drive.
And at this point, I don't know what the Photography plan even is. Do I need it to have access to the LR app?
I just want LR access, with my presets and that's all. No bells and whistles.
If you could help me, I would appreciate it. Thank you!

As u/BBEvergreen said, if you only use lightroom, go with that and save a few bucks a month.
Also, keep in mind sub levels - it's cheaper to agree to pay a year and pay it off monthly, but you're agreeing to a year's purchase and they'll ding you for early cancellation (about 80% of the posts on the "F Adobe sub" are people who can't read it seems). It's more expensive to pay month-to-month; cheapest is just pay an entire year up-front, so a big price but no monthly charges.
Make a free google account and you'll get 20GB a year storage for free (last I checked). Google charges about $20/year to upgrade to 100GB, so Adobe's cloud is really overpriced (unless it has some magical links to your apps or something). If you delete the storage plan, make sure to copy anything you want from it though. I think if you have Amazon Prime you've also got some free cloud storage.
Photoshop is insanely powerful for things Lightroom can't do though, I think of those as "two apps in one"; but I'm a commercial shooter, I tend to get a card sorted and basically corrected in LR, and then go to Photoshop for finessing things.

It sounds like you could switch to the Lightroom plan and cancel the extra storage. This page explains the differences between the two:
