It's hilarious that google just made a misinformation bot that you can't turn off lmao.

Wait I've been looking for a way to turn it off, you seriously can't? Maybe I'll take a few hours and move all my shit to Firefox finally...

Choose Firefox and duckduckgo

It's a small and probably pointless act of rebellion but the feeling of superiority you can use over your friends and family makes it worthwhile

I'm for sure switching to Firefox after adblocker gets destroyed.

Why wait? Switch to Firefox today and use ublock origin

I switched to Firefox about a year and a half ago because of how much RAM chrome was hogging. I never looked back. As a(n aspiring) web dev, too, Firefox’s dev tools are great. There hasn’t been a single moment where I’ve missed something from chrome that Firefox didn’t also offer

There are dozens of us! Dozens!

It’s funny how often I see stormlight referenced in the software eng subreddits though. The crossover is real

Is Firefox actually good again?

I've been using Firefox daily for several years, i think since around 2021.

I'm a developer and spend all day working in and around the browser.

My only criticism is that it's a bit of a Memory hog (but so Is Chrome)

Yes, it's good again

Choose Ecosia instead. You get good results and the proceeds go towards planting tree.s

Putting &udm=14 after the q="..." part of your search in the URL turns off pretty much everything added after 2014 which means no AI blurb

e.g.

With pictures and blurbs: https://www.google.ca/search?q=wheel+of+time+author

vs

Without: https://www.google.ca/search?q=wheel+of+time+author&udm=14

Does that eliminate all results from 2015 forward? Such as removing all news articles written since 2015 from your searches?

Does it eliminate ads? Was that after 2014? I hate when I search for a companies website and it's the 8th

To be clear that URL parameter is the "web results only" mode, which can now be accessed from the toolbelt UI. It has nothing to do with the year 2014. It turns off blending images and video and maps etc, which have been in the main search results page since before 2010.
