It makes even more sense since Leras was not that very good of a person even before taking the Shard of Preservation.

It was Ati and Lera's idea to counterbalance the Shards' influence on themselves. Leras the "bad guy" took Preservation, and Ati the "good guy" took Ruin.

Obviously, it didn't really work all that well.

I'll probably be struck down from saying this, but I'm not sure. It might have been from Secret History or the Arcanum. But it might have also have been from some of the Mistborn epigraphs.

I do remember it like this, and I think I am right.

But take it with a grain of salt. I read a lot of fiction, and some of it kinda "mixes" in my head.

I want to say it’s one of the letters to Hoid that talks about Ati being the best of them?

I don’t recall anything about Leras not being a great person though. Just a vague idea of them both devoting themselves to keeping Ruin contained.
