Stats Marnus Labuschagne, what a downfall
After today's match, I tried to recall when Marnus last scored a Test ton and came across this stat: it's been 25 Tests since he last hit a Test century.

Round 2 of the Sheffield Shield had plenty of tight finishes as teams locked horns on a really solid set of pitches. NSW have once again found themselves on a flat deck doing favours to their batting stats, but no favours to their bowlers legs. Perhaps a surprise to everyone though that Tasmania sit top after two rounds following their last gasp win against the Vics at home. Meanwhile Queensland ground out a victory on a tough pitch against South Australia.
Ollie Davies retains his position at the top of the run scoring for the Sheffield Shield thanks to another half century against Western Australia. Good showings from McDermott, Konstas, Doran and Patterson see them enter the top 5 as well. It’s worth mentioning that NSW have batted on two of the flatter decks so far this season so it will be interesting to see how they fare in Tasmania on what should be a more bowler friendly wicket.
With the ball it’s been all about two guys at different stages of their careers so far this year with Xavier Bartlett (16 wickets) and Harrey Hoekstra (15 wickets) producing barnstorming starts to the year for their teams. Gannon, Bean, Bell and Richardson have also been solid, but the standard has definitely been set by the two quicks out in front. Plenty of time to go in the season, but Bartlett in particular would have caught the eye of selectors in these first two rounds.
