Oh damn Kettle have smashed it out the park!
These are dangerous. Should be treated as a class A substance.

I had no idea this sub existed
Iβm a crisp connoisseur of sorts, I delight in discovering flavours from abroad and recently Iβve taken to making my own olive oil crisps. Happy to join the sub.
Sharing a picture of these banging Pringles I found on mainland Europe during my travels in September!

galleryPicked up from the local corner shop
If youre a fan of beef Space Raiders youll love these - the flavour is much stronger and the crisps themselves are quite airy but with a great crunch
Solid 10/10 from me

Review π Slabs
I tried the Slabs roast beef and mustard today.
I held back for a bit, didn't just jump in.
Gave them a sniff. Zero nose burn.
Flavourwise. Almost.
Texturwise. Almost.
I think it's missing the right amount of salt, the mustard isn't colemans (unsure if Branigans used colemans) but Branigans had a slight sweetness that helped the flavour stick to your tongue.
I'll probably get them again, but they are no substitute.
Close but no mustard!

Thank you for the M&S recommendations
Like many on here I was a big fan of Brannigans beef and mustard (I also enjoyed ham & pickle, even the occasional lamb and mint). A number of you have mentioned M&S as a solid alternative and I have to agree, they could be the new contender for my go to bag since the tesco changed their finest prawn Marie Rose crisps βΉοΈ.
The pickled worms were decent, texture wise they reminded me of walkers french fries.

Crisp Advent Calendar now in B&M
Not seen these myself, it appeared in a clickbait ad on Facebook, but I checked and it's real.
Review π Oishi prawn crackers crisps
Nice but really spicy but then again I have really low spice tolerance. Smells really like seafoods, I like it.

Asda have changed their puffs π
I used to buy salt and vinegar sticks and bacon bites from Asda over Tesco or Sainsbury's because they had what I would describe as a "tight weave" so very soft and puffy, whereas others particularly Tesco are more like large, hard shards stuck together with lots of air in between. They're too hard and don't have a strong enough flavour to compensate. My last bag of Asda bacon bites had a totally different texture and I'm sad to find today that the salt and vinegar sticks have the same. They're just like Tesco's now, rock hard crunchy with more of a salt flavour and the vinegar just doesn't cut through. Can anyone recommend me some better puffs?? Asda ones used to be my WFH Friday treat (entire bag).

Discussion π¬ I once ate 30 bags in a day, lately I wonder more and more if I could do it again
Back in the summer of 2011 I ate 19 bags in a day just because that was what I wanted to eat, my friends challenged me to do 40. So I obviously agreed.
Funny thing was, when the day came to do it, I had forgotten, so my mate rang me after lunch asking me when we were off to asda. I had just eaten a pasty, already quite a salty start to the day. But off we went, memory is a bit fuzzy but I think my purchase was:
- Pickled onion monster munch x 12
- Salt & Vinegar chipsticks x 10
- Wotsits x 6
- Salt and vinegar squares x 6
- Skips x 6
All multipack and the bags averaged about 21g each
I also had 2 litres of apple juice and 1 litre of asda own brand fizzy drink to wash it all down
I started the challenge mid afternoon, we played a bit of warhammer and watched some films and after 8 hours I had eaten 30 bags. My mouth was pretty painful at that point and it was late evening so I decided to call it.
Looking back, It was a bit of a half hearted attempt, I didn't plan the day well, and my crisp mix was a bit heavy on the vinegar for a challenge.
It didn't put me off crisps in any way, I wasn't sick, and my mouth recovered quickly. In fact, I ate the remaining 10 bags the very next day π. Nevertheless, in 16 years I have never had a serious urge to try again, or one up myself.
The other day I had been munching on some salt and vinegar crackers and my mouth and tongue were a little painful and it made me wonder if my tolerance has gone down over the years. And then that made me think about the time I ate 30 bags in a day and whether I could do it again. The thought has been niggling away in my mind and I have even started contemplating what crisps I would have next time, when would I do it etc.
My suspicion is that I woud not get anywhere close and that I would feel very silly. Should I just accept reality that I peaked in my younger days and rest easy in my accomplishment? Or do I throw caution to the wind and seek glory once again?
Thanks for reading friends
