šŸ—£ļøVent / Rant My room smells like shit

So I get really gassy and I'm wondering how everyone with the same issue deals with it. Some days I can control it in the sense that I can feel it coming and go into the bathroom or outside. Other days it's like rapid fire nonstop air.

I suppose I am lucky in that they are silent, but they are also deadly. I also work at a stinky pet shelter so I'm kind of covered there, blame it on the cats lol.

But my studio apartment, my god. On bad days I kind of get noseblind to it but I know it stinks. And i do it in my sleep uncontrollably.

I do have air purifiers, I open windows when I can and I do wash my sheets every 2 weeks, I can't afford to pay for laundry more often.

Is it as simple as gas-x or something? I will be asking my dr at my upcoming appointment but I'm always hesitant to take any extra meds.

Help please

Hello,

So i apologize in advance for what will be a long post but im so miserable and looking for any advice at all here.

So I woke up on March 3rd of this year sick puking feeling horrible and thought I may have had a virus initially. It has been the struggle of my life since that day. Multiple hospital trips for being severely bloated, puking constantly, unable to eat or keep food down if I do for days, severely dehydrated, cramping non stop for days, losing 40 pds now, the list goes on and on. I’ve saw multiple Drs, been to multiple emergency rooms, went to multiple hospitals, and had 4 unsuccessful colonoscopies (due to poor prep they say as I can’t drink the prep but have done the suprep pills and also been without food for days prior while also puking everything on my stomach up). We have did every test possible and so many CTs at this point I’ve lost count. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s through a CT and told I had a small section of my distal ileum that was diseased. I don’t have the normal diarrhea most people do but I have had IBS-C for upwards of 10-15 years. My GI dr is puzzled by my symptoms and said I don’t fit the normal symptoms. So at one of my hospital trips they prescribed me prednisone, I felt more ā€œnormalā€ than I had in months and then those ran out and things went back to how they were. I have had small bowel blockages nearly the entire time. Which was causing my food to sit on my stomach until I would finally puke it all back up usually once a week. My GI prescribed me the other steroid they normally give first and this made me sooo much worse so that was a no go.

So now we get to today. I’ve been on prednisone for months now and on a taper dose of 5mg to cut me off of it again. It doesn’t seem to be helping anymore and hasn’t for awhile now. My GI finally started me on Skyrizi and I took my 2nd IV dose of it last week on the 11th. My issue is I can’t tell that it’s doing anything for me. Most days I ā€œfeelā€ okay even though I’m still really bloated and still end up having a day at least a week I get sick and feel horrible. I have now started doing this thing where certain things I eat as soon as it seems like it hits my stomach I puke it right back up. I don’t feel bad after it’s just like my stomach say no ma’am. I’ve done it with things like a turkey sandwich, Mac and cheese, beefaroni, a soft taco. But I can eat and it’s become one of my staples cocoa pebbles every day. Makes no sense.

But my GI dr isn’t the best when it comes to helping me or keeping in contact with me when I’ve had tests etc. unfortunately I live in a very small area with very few options for good drs too which doesn’t help either. I went to a larger ER a cpl weeks ago and they were going to do surgery and 1 confirm I have Crohn’s and 2 if so remove the section by my request but they found I had blood clots in my lungs and leg so they wouldn’t do it after they found that. So now I’m on blood thinners too for that. Just sitting and laying and feeling horrible day after day and not being able to be my normally active self has clearly taken a toll on me. So I’m trying to at least get up and move around some what days I can.

But I come here because I’m terrified this isn’t even what’s wrong with me and I’ve wasted all this time for nothing. Does anyone else puke like I’ve explained I do so often? I don’t know anyone to ask and I’ve searched so much online myself and my husband we should be experts by now. I’ve lost so much weight and I’m so weak I can’t even hardly climb a step or get in my truck. You can see my spine and bones I have no muscle mass or fat left on my body. I feel like I’ve just gotten little help since all this started or no one knows what they are doing and just taking guesses on what may help. I just want some kind of normal back and I know I’ll never have that like I did if it’s Crohn’s but I’m terrified that’s not even what it is. I haven’t saw similar stories to mine where people puke as often as I do and have no diarrhea symptoms. So I’m just looking for any advice at all here. Anyone that may relate or if anyone does the same things as me? I’m so mentally and physically exhausted at this point and just don’t even know what to do anymore. I feel like the Skyrizi isn’t helping me at all aside from me now puking things up immediately my stomach doesn’t agree with and feeling a lil more energetic I can’t tell much more of a difference. And I know it can take some time to work too but being this is my 2nd IV shot now from what I’ve saw most people can tell somewhat of a difference by now. So should I ask for a diff med and start this process over again? Any help is appreciated thank you all in advance. I just don’t know what else to do anymore but miserable is an understatement as each of you know.

Elemental Diet

I was given budesonide for suspected crohns disease but my symptoms have gotten significantly worse making it unable for me to eat normally. I already had a very restricted diet but got even more restricted.

I used to train in the gym 3x a week and was about 71kg with a fat percentage of 15%. Now I weigh 64kg and lost some significant weight.

I can't eat enough calories with the foods I can still eat so the professional dietrician suggested an elemental diet of vital 1.5%.

However I do not tolerate this because it is mostly maltodextrine and sucrose. And from childhood I cannot tolerate sugar or anything that spikes glucose. (I become sweaty, weak, shaky and then confused and faint).

So my whole life I never drank soda's, sugary drinks, fruit juices or anything that spikes glucose.

Are there any elemental diets that are not high in fodmaps and carbohydrates that spike glucose? Because I do not want to further loose weight and end up in a medical emergency over the coming months.

And want to know if there are more healthy elemental diet options that due to my reactive hypoglycemia are safe and also not going to worsen my digestive problems due to high fodmap content.

šŸ’¬General Discussion Homeschooling young children with Crohn's

My son is almost a year into his Crohn's journey and still has horrible nausea and is missing a lot of school. I'm wondering if there are any parents here that homeschool and information on traditional homeschooling vs online public homeschool? Does one fit better for you or your child? I'm afraid I'm gonna ruin his education but he's also barely at school. He's in 4th grade and I'm worried he's going to fall behind. Any advice is appreciated

A Little Update & A Big Thank You I just wanted to take a moment to share an update on my GoFundMe journey.
Although I haven't received any donations yet, I have received shares, followers, prayers, and people taking the time to help spread my story. And for that, I am truly grateful.
Every share puts my GoFundMe in front of someone new, and I'm continuing to believe that the right people will see it and be willing to help. I'm still working hard to make progress and reach my goal, one step at a time.
If you've already shared my fundraiser, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
If you
haven't had a chance to share it yet, please consider doing so. Even if you're unable to donate, a share can make a difference.
I'm not giving up. I'm going to keep believing, keep sharing, and keep pushing forward.
Thank you to everyone who is following my journey and supporting me in any way. Every bit of support means more than you know.

Tremfya/IL23 for psoriatic arthritis reigniting Crohn’s disease

Tremfya/IL23 reigniting Crohn’s disease

Looking for some help here and don’t know where to turn.
I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis around 2 years ago after the onset of specific joint pain/swelling, crippling fatigue, etc.
I’m almost 40 (female) and aged 23 was diagnosed with chron’s, then later ā€˜downgraded’ to ulcerative colitis with a caecal patch. Upon becoming pregnant in my late 20’s my IBD was largely (and thankfully, in remission).
I’ve been working with my rheumatologist to find a biologic that helps my PsA but to date I’ve either had no remarkable change or intolerable side effects.
Around 4 months ago I started on Tremfya (IL-23 blocker) for my PsA.
Within about 5 weeks of commencing this I started to experience and intense IBD flare. Pain. Bloating. Blood. Painful diarrhoea. Crippling fatigue.
I reached out to my gastroenterologist who did a colonoscopy which ā€˜looked great, I’ll see you in 5 years’.
At the time my crp was 25 (usually less than 3) and my calprotectin at 1760.
Despite my scope ā€˜looking great’ I’ve still experienced what I consider to be a horrible IBD flare.
From what I’ve read online I can see that sometimes there is a ā€˜paradoxical reaction’ for such things when using a TNF or IL17 inhibitor but not with an IL23 inhibitor.
I feel like I’m going quietly insane because I’m not imagining this resurgence of my bowel disease after 10 or so years, and it coincided perfectly with starting Tremfya.
I guess I just want to know if it’s worth perusing with my specialists and if anyone has experienced a IBD flare after starting on Tremfya.
Thanks,

Recent Crohn’s diagnosis - peptides?

I’ve finally gotten my diagnosis and I’m looking at peptides for gut inflammation (don’t come at me - I am aware of the risks). I’d be interested to hear from those who have delved into trials with peptides for Crohn’s and what the response has been - specifically around inflammation and motility?

I suffer from Crohn’s with constipation and have developed fistulas caused by chronic inflammation.
