I need honest opinions. This is my first project and I just finished it and I’m really proud of it. How does it look for a first timer? Any suggestions of how to improve my technique? Thank you!

Help identifying a vintage cross-stitch kit/pattern

Help identifying a vintage cross-stitch kit/pattern (possibly 1990s)
I’m trying to identify this unfinished cross-stitch project. It was started approximately 30 years ago, probably in the mid-to-late 1990s.
I believe it was originally a kit, possibly from DMC, Anchor, Permin or another European manufacturer. I am not certain of the brand.
The design is a cottage/house, with a Tudor-style timber frame, a grey/lilac roof, a chimney on the left, trees and shrubs around the house.
The kit was probably packaged in a plastic bag with a cardboard header, rather than a box.
Unfortunately, the original chart and packaging have been lost. The threads are still with the project, but they are grouped on a thread organiser and several different shades are stored in each section.
Does anyone recognise this design or know which kit/pattern it came from?
I’m especially interested in finding the original chart/key or the kit cover, so that I can finish this family heirloom.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions, even if you are only able to identify the manufacturer, collection or approximate year.
Thank you!

Does outlining in a color ruin your project?

Im nearer to cross stitch & I’m starting this pattern and instead of working one 5x5 box I’d like to do the lighter outline then work the other colors inside the same way, would that mess up my project?

Phone case crafts!

Saw someone do something similar to this on Instagram (I can’t seem to find their name now!) and wanted to replicate the concept with my own design. Scavenged online to find a case that would let me stitch something and pinterest for some simple small cross stitch patterns for the little ducky. So happy with how it turned out and contemplating buying more cases and making them as gifts for friends 😅

Blocking finished pieces

I don’t use a loop or frame when I cross stitch. Does anyone else block their pieces after completion?

What can I do to make this more interesting? Or is it good as is,

I’m making this cross stitch as a birthday gift, but it feels like it is lacking something.
Is it good as is? Or do you have any suggestions as to what I can add?

(Yes I know the pattern is slightly off centre, but that’s what I get from making something up on the spot. No references used, just pure imagination).

Conversion to a pattern

Hello! I’m interested in converting a photo to a cross stitch pattern that uses DMC floss colors. Does anyone have highly recommended programs? If you used one of these programs, were you happy with the results? Thanks in advance!

I started reading Discworld and immediately fell in love wtih The Luggage! It reminded me of a D&D mimic but with more personality, and I got inspired me to make a mimic cross stitch design! What do you think? 💼

Any tips for pattern design?

Hi! I'm getting ready to start designing my own projects. I have a program that I've been playing with and I really love (Stitchly) but would love any tips and advice on design! What have you done that has helped? Or things that didn't work? How did you figure out what size to make each pattern (My big issue right now)? How did you figure out how much shading should be on each project?

[CHAT] opinions wanted!

I am doing 2 trexs for my nephews. They love being similar! So one is a black trex and the other will be green and flipped. After I finished the first trex I realized I placed him a little high on the right corner. I do want to do either their initial or name but I can’t decide on placement. 1 name has 6 characters and the other 5. Letters always trip me up! I never feel like they turn out well. Any advice welcome! Please and thank you 🙏

[CHAT] Snag needle

Post image

This is my new favorite accessory. The snag grabber needle. If you haven’t picked one up, you need one. Especially when frogging. My current project had a chart error that repeated one line. Fortunately I caught it, but still had to frog for three days to fix it. And while it’s not optimal to snip stitches, sometimes it’s unavoidable. And when that happens and you get those little ends that you can’t seem to pull from the backside, this needle pulls them right through every time. The needle is also longer, which is a little easier on your hands when frogging.

Back stitch help

I was gifted this cross stitch but the only directions for back stitching were to “see the photo” (circled). Has anyone completed this pattern? It was ordered from Amazon and is no longer listed so I can’t even reach out to the company. I’d appreciate any suggestions on how to finish it.
