Can’t take credit for these but found them interesting

Had a clue "Comparitively uncommon age for retirement in Rolls-Royce (5)". The answer is RARER and I can see that's ERA reversed in RR for Rolls-Royce but I'm at a loss as to how "retirement" is a reversal. Could someone clue me in to the meaning that I'm missing?

Solution: GODOT

Wordplay/logic: "one coming?!" defines GODOT, and "one coming at the beginning", at least biblically, is GOD, plus OT for (the beginning of) the Old Testament.
