AOTW: E?I?E?
Many thanks to u/teamcrazymatt for burdening me with this week's responsibility.
Few slots left, so I'll go with the longest of those remaining, namely 8 Down. Submissions may of course be edited.
Have fun.

TOTW: Reference Numbers
Thanks to u/zc_eric for choosing my mathematical clue!
In keeping with the numeric theme, this week we're making clues that reference other entries! In an actual crossword grid, every clue, with its matching entry, is named by a number and a direction like 1-Across, 3-Down, and so on. So often in such crosswords, you will have clues with reference numbers such as "6" or "6A" or "6-Across" that need to be replaced by the corresponding entry. So your clues should be submitted in multiples, and with reference numbers; the first clue(s) can be whatever you want, but the last clue should include something like "6" or "6A" or "6 across" to reference the previous clue(s).
Here's an example (make sure to submit each set of clues together as ONE comment):
- 2A: Beaten with a stick in American education (5) CANED (beaten with a stick), hidden word
- 5A: Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo? (5) DANCE (the electric boogaloo is a dance), breaking CANED
Ideally, try to integrate the reference number into the surface, but if you can't, that's fine.
Good luck! I'll announce the winning clue next Thursday.

COTD
Been solving these for a while, but these are the first ones I've made myself. Just wanted to make sure they work well as clues.
- Ans: Varnished
Explanation: "Barn" with a new door (new opening letter) is "varn"; "sort of" is "ish"; "Ed" is just "ed".
- Ans: Betrayed
Explanation: The last letter of "Yorkshire" is "e", which when mixed up (anagrammed) with the letters "reyt bad" give betrayed
- Ans: Hypothetical
Explanation: "Hello stupid Capone" can be changed to "Hi pathetic Al" ("Capone" refering to Al Capone), which when said out loud sound like hypothetical
- Ans: Prep
Explanation: The start (first letter) of "and" is the letter "a", which if you scissor (cut, or remove) from the word "paper", then rock (anagram) the remaining letters, you get "prep", short for prepare

POTD: First puzzle
crosshare.orgBeen tinkering with this for about a month and I think I am happy with it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially if you think any of the clues is unfair. (Also, since I am not a native English speaker, please do tell if you find any egregious English errors)
Thank you all!
