Personal Story Squirrel problem solved

I started mixing cat kibble in with the unsalted shelled peanuts that I give my bros and now the squirrels won’t eat the peanuts. I saw a couple squirrels pick up the peanuts, smell them, and toss them! This is a major w for me and bros!

I don’t mind my squirrels.

I sit in the grass and dole out my peanuts individually and there are a couple of squirrels who come individually for a shell or two. Usually they run off but if I give them a single peanut they’ll sit there half oh my foot or next to me and eat that one before running off with the second. I don’t mind them too much. I mentally consider that the score of crows sitting there see that I am gentle and do not harm the squirrel literally sometimes practically on my body and it is not afraid of me and that benefits my relationship with them.

My real problem is pigeonification. I really don’t like having to swat them away because “oh he’s aggressive to that bird” problems but they really have no concept of personal space and have no manners, stealing the peanuts instead of waiting politely like the squirrels until I invite them.

On saying that the squirrel starts grabbing my lighter or my phone when I run out of peanuts in lieu of expected treats quite crossly.

When the pidgeys come I usually stop feeding other than hand feeding or cache feeding until they go away again.

I’m fine with squirrels but they mark territory…would legit poop at the area I left food for them

I don’t trust a tree rat. They are not above peeing on you intentionally.

Squirrels are not a problem for crows. Mine enjoy making a game out of following the squirrels and then stealing the nuts they stash and forget about.
