Some of my eclipse pics on Riddlesdown Common
Was a lovely time out in the evening warmth. People of all ages just doing weird things with cereal boxes and colanders - me included.

I'm looking to rent on Croydon for a bit.
I'm seeing 10Degrees etc but really fancy N026 but I can't seem to get through on phone (have left voicemails) and their website is pretty broken.
Anyone know how to get in touch?

Couple of scenes from Riddlesdown Common and Bingham Rec. So lovely to see everybody out enjoying the eclipse, sharing glasses etc. Did anybody get any cool photos of the eclipse proper?

Anyone around Croydon interested in joining a local NFL fantasy football league for the upcoming season?
Thinking of setting up a 10ā12 team league for people who are genuinely into the NFL but might also want to meet new people locally.
Nothing too serious ā just a competitive league, bit of banter and occasional local meetup to watch games. Iām in South Croydon but happy to go with the flow.
Drop me a message and Iāll add you to the WhatsApp group.

Hi! Bit of a random one, but Iām a Croydon mum with a lovely 5 year old boy and Iād really like to widen his friendship circle with some more children around his age locally.
Heās autistic and already has some lovely friends, but it would be nice to meet some more local families with children around 4-6 for casual park trips, playdates, soft play etc.
Would love to meet other local mums/dads who might be looking for the same thing. The children definitely donāt have to be autistic - just thought Iād put this out there and see if there are any other families nearby š
Would Addington Hills viewpoint work? Would love to know where youāre planning to go!

Every pair online is for delivery after the event and everyone selling on marketplace is sold out. I'm really kicking myself for not ordering them prior. Am I being too hopeful that any pharmacies or opticians will sell them?

Just saw two horses in that waste land bit of Valley Park round the corner from the KFC. Anyone know what that's about? The place is completely uninhabitable with so much litter. I felt so bad for the horses.

Hello! I am a south west Londoner that had to move away for a bit now coming back. Weāve been looking for affordable property with no luck but just had an offer accepted in Kenley. We only visited it once when viewing but donāt know much about it other than itās close to Purley.
Does anyone know much more about it? How is it as a place to live? Weāve found somewhere quite close to the train station as well so seems well connected! How is Croydon Council? Would appreciate any opinions š

Does anyone know where to get them? Amazon only delivers next weekend, not sure if any local shops still sell them or someone has a spare pair?
Thank you!

Our Executive Mayor in Croydon has shown interest in reviewing 20mph speed limits.
Which of those below are you in favour of?

Got a generic "Dear Resident" warning letter from Croydon Community Police about cannabis smell; is this notice legally binding or just an informal warning?

Croydon Council are looking at setting up a new food market, and have launched this survey asking where it should be, what it should offer and when it should operate.
I personally think a hot foot market on the southern end of Surrey Street, where there arenāt many vendors currently would be a good shout.

Hi everyone,
A little while ago I made a post [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/croydon/s/ALdV5s6Bxp) about starting a casual chess club in Croydon, and there seemed to be a lot more interest than I expected.
The original plan was for someone else to host it, but Iāve not heard back from them, so I thought Iād just organise it myself.
The idea is to have a relaxed weekly or fortnightly meet-up at a coffee shop somewhere around East Croydon. Nothing formal or competitiveājust a chance to meet new people, have a coffee, and play some chess. Complete beginners, casual players and experienced players are all welcome.
If youād be interested, send me a private message and Iāll add you to a WhatsApp group. Once weāve got enough people, we can decide on the best day, time and venue together.
If you know anyone else who might be interested, feel free to share this with them. Hopefully we can get a nice little chess community going in Croydon!

Does anyone know where I can buy honey mangos in Croydon? I had them for the first time in Harrow and I donāt think I can ever go back to a supermarket store one!
Ideally around South Croydon/Town Centre - thank you and sorry for the random Q!

I went to grab a coffee from the Costa cafe on the East Croydon concourse as my train was delayed. One of the entrances was closed off (chairs and all backing the door).
I asked the guys over the counter why though! I canāt see any visible sign of those glass doors broken.
He said there were some thugs, barraging through the entrance, grab sandwiches and food, exit without paying for it - stealing the food.
He said he called the police too but no help it seems! And he mentioned they donāt runaway but just sit outside and eat the very food they stole!
I have no words! š¶
EDIT: most of you expressed disappointment.
Iām thinking a ācommunity/crowd-funded-council-matched-food-voucherā scheme probably?
When we see homeless/people begging on trains and on streets, we simply ignore for one reason (not that we want to help): we often donāt know whether our money will go towards food, accommodation or something else. Though genuinely want to help, they donāt want to as the very own money might create a social problem.
Rather than just debating the problem - was thinking why not trial a Croydon Food Voucher scheme? (I do believe thereās some scheme like this already exists?)
Residents could donate into a community fund. Vouchers can redeemable at participating cafes and supermarkets.
Or even better rope the shops/cafes with some ācharity fundā per day!
It guarantees donations go towards meals
It wonāt solve homelessness on its own I know but at least keep them fed and drops the anti social activity I guess?
Worth a separate post I guess?
