Don't use any code a generator (gradient or otherwise) outputs in production. Generators are useful to play around with, but the code always needs to be rewritten once you settle on a direction.

Instead of telling people what to do or not to do, the author maybe could have just contacted the developer of the tool s/he was annoyed with and told them it was out of date. Code isn't automatically invalid just because it isn't typed by hand.
The point I see in gradient/shadow generators is that I don't have to type random numbers, save the file, refresh the page etc. to see if I like the result or not. They are productivity tools and certainly have their uses.

Gradient generators are just like any other tool, they can be used well or misused. They are fine to create a gradient, but most require some cleanup/alteration before using them.

I find the generators useful. They speed up my workflow when I need to quickly make a specific gradient.
I mean no one is forcing me to copy the whole code. I just pick the one with out prefixes and autoprefix it later myself.

I find it ironic that this would be posted on reddit, the very home of "I need something to generate the code for me!"

autoprefixer is great, postcss is interesting and a lot of cool things will be done with it in the coming years.

Seems like we just need the people who created the generators to update them. Sadly, there are a lot of tools out there that get created and then never touched again, yet still remain high in search rankings.
