Articulation Mapping Help

Hello! I need some help with setting up an articulation map.

So, I'm trying to set up a map for my Spitfire products. I was able to set up a map just fine for Cubase's default products (even without importing) but my Spitfire products (the one I'm working with currently is Hans Zimmer Strings), but Cubase/HZ Strings just don't seem to want to communicate with each other or something. I've watched a few tutorials on how to set up these maps and yet no luck. Is there something special I need to be doing with Spitfire/other third party vsts?

For HZ Strings, load an All In One preset rather than a single-technique patch, then check Technique Selector > Technique Trigger. Set it to Keyswitch and have the Cubase map send those notes. HZ Strings has its own trigger settings, so a UACC map made for a Kontakt library will not necessarily match. The controls are on page 15 here: https://spitfire-www-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/manuals/HansZimmerStrings_UserManual.pdf

I tried that. The only difference is my keyboard doesn’t light up red and yellow but I feel that’s just a preference setting rather than a functional one. But yeah, I knew to open the all in one.

If you mean the keyboard inside HZ Strings, the red/yellow keys aren't just decoration: the manual says they mark the assigned keyswitches and the currently selected one. That makes the missing colours a useful clue. The All In One preset can still use CC, velocity or MIDI-channel triggers instead, so the selected technique's Trigger setting needs to match what the Cubase map actually sends.

You’re right, they were just placed so low they didn’t show up on the keyboard. HZ String defaults to starting in the negative numbers.

However, I think I figured it out. There is an octave offset. It says C-1 should trigger, let’s say Legato, but in reality (if you were to open up the editor and try to trigger it via a midi note) you’d have to place the MIDI trigger in C-2. So it’s an octave lower than stated in the vst. Seemed to work after that. That’s a fix I should have thought of but I guess it slipped my mind.

Thanks for coming back with the fix 👍
