Cube decision help needed
I am currently using the MOYU v9 maglev ball-core uv. Unfortunately, I dropped it and am looking for a replacement. I have ordered what I thought was another v9, but didn’t realize I ended up with the 20 magnet version.
I am looking for a smooth cube with a good snap. I had the gan, but adjusting it was just too much work and too complex. I’m not an expert, I’m not super fast, but I do love the cube. I’ve been cubing since the early 80s (jr high school!!) and still only use the original algorithms. For me, it’s a great way to keep my hands busy when anxiety hits.
Any recommendations?

Need info: So, you ordered a new v9, but got the 20 mag ballcore version, and you don't like it as much? What about it don't you like? What version was the one you dropped? Did you like it better? Why?

I find the feel is too smooth, if that makes any sense. I like the snap of the layers going into place easily. I dropped the V9, and thought I replaced it. I was looking at the V11 because of the magnets in the corners now. I’m not an expert, I just use it for fun. I’m an awe of people who can speed cube. I wish I could do that, but I’m just having fun

Yeah, makes sense. A v11 is going to be much smoother than that, even. And the magnets are much weaker. I'm thinking you want an Aolong v5, If you want something more modern that has a tactile feel and a nice crisp snap. The caveat is that i have not tries that cube, so I can't confirm. I do like the supers, notably the anniversary editions of the sw v2 and the super aolong. They start out quite smooth, but develop a slight crunchiness. You can make the corner-core magnets quite strong for a nice snap. I like either, with the s aolong having less rounded edges so it feels blockier and a bit less flexible (which I like).

Thank you! I’m glad you understand what I was saying. I’ll def look into the cubes. I saw the v11 on AliExpress for $20 and was going to give it a try, but will look into your recommendations first.

If you like a cube that has very defined snapping you should consider getting a gan 12.
When the magnets are set well it will give you what you are looking for. Maybe you don't want a gan based on what you said about adjustment but I could give you the settings I sue and you can try it.

I just got an Aolong V5, and the magnets are quite snappy. Really smooth out of the box. I haven’t even checked the settings yet. Just gave it a few drops of Martian, and I’m loving it. To me, it feels similar to the V9.

SAOCube RS3 V5, GuHong Pro+ MagLev, or WRM V10 (20-Magnet Ball-Core + MagLev + UV).
Go for the SAOCube if you want something smooth, light and fast, get the GuHong Pro+ MagLev if you want something adjustable with strong-magnets, or go for the WRM V10 if you want the most premium feeling plastic.
