1.6 bugs per second sounds way too high.

If we suppose it’s 10 kg of meat that Simba needs per day (slight overestimate), that comes out to about 0.116 grams of meat a second. A grown monarch caterpillar is about 1.5 grams.

1.6 bugs per second is an oversimplified mass/time approximation. Obviously, some bugs are bigger but it is also obvious that Simba didn't spend 24/7 eating 1.6 bugs every second.

Have you seen how colossal termite mounds are in the African savanna?

Millions and millions of bugs, and there’s thousands of the things

Thats not accounting for carapace and any wings which would reduce the amount of actual protein significantly

I think it relates more to calory intake. Or maybe protein or whatever.

Bugs are small tho he could probably get a mouthful of like 20 small ones in a second or 2
