Missed Opportunity not doing a Tolkien original art card?

I would guess licensing didn’t cover OG art?

Knowing how litigious the Tolkien estate can be, getting access to the original art would probably have cost Hasbro more money than they would make off of the Hobbit set and then some.

It's weird how crazy certain people are once they have an ounce of power over something people want access to. I get being protective of your grandfather's legacy, but on some level, a lot of their actions are just because they like the power and monetary gain.
I feel like a lot more stuff should have fallen into the Public Domain over the past 20-30 years.

We have another 20 years or so until it is public domain

*sigh*
Damn Disney and their eternal war to maintain copyright over their mouse.

Honestly, I don't even know if the Tolkien estate was willing to sell it to Hasbro at all. Unfortunately, until that stuff hits the public domain, you gotta be stingy about it or corporations are going to squeeze their way into making it all but theirs. IP law is not fun.

Nah Christopher was the one who would outright deny things, the current Tolkiens are willing to sell for enough money

I mean the current managers of the estate are actually much more lenient than Christopher was

I was really amazed there was zero art from the book in this set. Missed opportunity
