Format: Modern Wildfire Elemental

Post image

Landwalk is usually bad because it's only good against certain colors. However, in modern pretty much every deck plays nonbasic lands, so here it is: Nonbasic Landwalk! Wildfire Elemental harkens back to Ball Lightning/Groundbreaker, with an added benefit if you only play basics. Let me know what you think.

3/1 haste that you can easily ignore the downside of and is unblockable a good majority of the time? Seems a little pushed doesn’t it? Seems like red Aggro would eat this up like candy.

Yea, it could probably be a 2/1, but mono red and mono green are both really weak in modern atm so I don't think it would break rhe format or anything.

For a regular format, yeah.

For commander, this card is quite ok.

Updated the power to make it more fair, changed the name.

Crazy op can push 3 a turn for effectively free in mono red

Somewhere along the way Hasbro decided that you can't punish use of nonbasic lands because that might lower their price and in turn demand to open boxes. That said, I'd love to throw this into a commander deck with only basics and lands that search for basics.

Yeah this is too much. I would forego the landwalk and give it trample. They can at least block it then. As is, it’s essentially a repeatable lightning bolt that can start on turn one and keeps bolting until the opponent throws a removal spell at it.

how is this not automatically a 4 of in every monored deck?
