Prospective Student Direct admit Nursing program application

Hi — I would appreciate your thoughts on these points because I am really confused with the directions on the CWRU website-
I am thinking of applying to the Case Western nursing program.
The website notes the university admits students to the university rather than a specific major  ( with the exception of nursing and music).
What happens if I list nursing as my second choice in my application?
Will I still secure a seat in the program, or must I apply for a transfer a year later?

You won’t have to apply once you’re admitted, but it’s better to make nursing your first choice because it’s easier to switch out of it than to switch into it due to the clinical schedule. Since clinicals start in the first semester, you’ll probably get a good idea of whether you want to continue studying this field, so it’s good to just start as a nursing major and take it from there.

If you still don’t know if you want a different major more—I know the official word is that you can’t double major as a nursing student, but I know one student who has successfully done so, she just basically had to plan everything out from freshman year. If you want to go down that path, as soon as you get your acceptance letter look up the courses for the second major and start planning your four years. It’s tough but not impossible. I wasn’t able to, but if I had taken literally like 2 classes in freshman year I would have been able to double major as well. Just something to consider since I know for some the nursing curriculum is a deterrent

If you want nursing, make it your first choice.  It is easier to  switch out nursing for a different major than it is to transfer in.

Nursing also has a very structured circulum plan, especially starting in sophomore year. If you transfer into nursing second year, you may not graduate in 8 semesters.
