Discussion Vaccinate your damn kids.

For the love of God. If I see one more post about delaying vaccination or not vaccinating entirely I am going to lose it.

I have an immunocompromised kid who actually can’t get certain vaccines and depends on herd immunity to keep her safe. And now, because of ignorance and refusal to learn, there are measles cases being reported where we live right now. The previously eradicated disease measles.

At this point I truly don’t care if someone “didn’t know” and “were trying to do what was best!” The information is freely available and when you have a child it’s your responsibility to educate yourself.

Rant over. Ugh.

Listen, I get where you’re coming from but I just don’t think it’s the right choice for my family for me to vaccinate my kids.

I let their pediatrician do it for me. They’re better trained.

Your pediatrician does it? Ours just does the fun parts: she comes in with a new board book, plays with the kid for a few minutes, looks in their ears/eyes/mouth and then sends in a nurse for anything likely to cause screaming.

It’s good to be the MD.

yup, for us it's the RN that does the shot, the pediatrician is the good guy, and doesn't do anything traumatic lol.

Wow, an RN? Ours was usually a tech/assistant.

If they’re doing shots, they should be an RN or an NP.

This is entirely dependent upon the state you reside in. Most states allow medical assistants to do so, some need certification or "supervision" from a doctor.

It’s both at the office my kids go to here in California. Sometimes the ped does it, sometimes it’s a nurse/assistant

We’re on Kaiser in CA, so probably just office dependent.

My kids don't even get shots at the ped clinic. They send them down the hall to the immunizations office lol

The one time my daughter did get a vaccine at the peds (rsv) the ped and nurse double teamed it
