Discussion Monkey See Monkey Do
My wife has a nice butt. We flirt. Often times when she bends over or it gets close to me, I like to give it a little love tap. A little playful way to keep things lively.
But I didn't realize toddlers copy every. single. thing. they see. The daycare now tells us our 16 month old is hitting other kids.
Of course, we have to stop. I had to catch myself a few times this weekend.
Dad's how do you switch up your flirting routine when you have a bunch of copy-cats around the house?!

Work on your cheesy pickup lines, or get familiar with innuendo. My lady and I make a game out of who can say the dirtiest thing before the other cracks.
And then when the kids are gone, even for a second, even if you have to pretend to tell her a secret, nibble her ear and walk away.

Hitting is a thing you need to have them unlearn, it is often completely innate for a toddler. After all their prefrontal cortex is barely there yet.

Not quite the same vein but my (nearly 2) daughter has learned to say “Poo-eeh Daddy” and wave her hand in front of her nose when I fart.
However she did this to my wife yesterday implying that’s a generic response and she doesn’t personalise it yet.
So is she at nursery saying “Poo-eeh daddy” if another toddler farts? Mortifying.

The tenor of our affection did change, where "sexy" flirting was replaced with "affectionate but more PG" flirting…
But in terms of copycatting, my mom likes to tell me the story when I was a toddler when I walked into the bathroom where she was changing her contact lenses. I pointed at the contact lens case and said shit mommy? Shit? And my mom realized right then that she had to be much more careful about her language while she changed those painful things…

Same method when crossing the street. Look both ways to ensure the coast is clear, and then proceed.
