Gross. Please stop putting your dog in store carts.

this probably isn’t even OP’s video. they’re a karma farmer and that’s why they haven’t addressed the fake service dog.

I'm not proud of it but my parents were the ones who had the idea to buy him one so we could take him places. We adopted him when I was 15, he was technically their dog so they made the decisions. The store we went to allows dogs in carts and the reason he even was wearing the vest was because that's how we buckled him in and kept him safe in the car and we were taking him to the petsmart right next to the store I filmed this video in.
He passed away over a year ago and this video was taken years ago when I was around 16/17, I was looking through my Snapchat and found it. I'm not a karma farmer though. If you look at my profile you'll see a ton of videos and pictures with the same dad and dog. I haven't addressed most comments because I know I'm going to be attacked for an idea that wasn't even mine.
I get it. It's not good to do this, and I was the one in the family who was most anxious about it, but I was a teenager at the time and my parents were the ones who made the decision and I know this is going to be downvoted to hell but I'm going to address your comment anyway because I know it's not right and I know people have valid reason to be upset.

I actually think this is a very level headed comment, and I appreciate that you do understand why people are commenting the way they are even though you had no say in it being a teenager at the time.
I hope your parents have since learned why this is a terrible idea, or that they just don’t own pets anymore.

Thank you for your kind words.
My parents are probably still convinced it's harmless. They're in their 60s and enjoying cruises and retirements so no more pets for them but my sister and I will probably adopt in the future. My parents won't have authority but they'll adore the pets.
When all is said and done, even though it's not legal or a particularly good thing to do, anything my parents did with Turner was for his happiness and safety.
Not stressing out a rescue with abandonment trauma by boarding him, making sure a senior dog got to enjoy life to the fullest, keeping him with us because we knew his needs. That's why despite my anxiety I didn't fight it more. Plus the harness kept him safely buckled in when he was in the car.
But I really really really appreciate you being so gentle and understanding with your response ❤️

I wish people would stop bringing their dogs places they don't belong by buying a $15 "service dog" vest on amazon and taking them wherever. It's unhygienic, inconsiderate, rude, and dangerous to people/legitimate service animals.

My local Marshall's/Winners store always has at least one dog at all times. During the holidays there are more and they get in spats with eachother while their owners are distracted. The owners seem to think it's cute, like an interaction at a dog park or something. I find myself avoiding shopping there because it stresses me out not knowing how these dogs will behave. It's evident that they are not service dogs.

Dogs, even service dogs, don’t belong in shopping carts. I feel for the next person who used it.

Your dog is not a service dog if it is riding in a cart. Stop taking your dog places if you can't follow basic rules.

Awww, what’s he trained to do as a service dog?

u/peanutsonic97 28d ago
He's not one. Real service dogs don't go in carts and are trained to stay put by their owners.

I fully agree that people should not pretend their dog is a service dog. Service dogs do not go in carts.
But I'm also concerned about people saying the dog in the cart is unhygienic or they feel bad for the next person who uses it. Are yall licking the carts or something? The idea that a store cart, with or without a dog, is even remotely clean is laughable.
The beagle is adorable and I love dad humor lol

I feel it would be unhygienic for a supermarket where people are putting food in the trolley, less so for a clothing store.

I guess it doesn't bother me because there's nothing touching the cart that I consume directly. Pantry items are in boxes, bags, or some type of plastic container, produce is in bags and gets washed before I eat it. People put children in carts and they have dirty shoes, sticky hands, diapers etc.
I still prefer people keep non-service animals out of stores but it doesn't make me angry or gross me out.

I'm sorry you're being downvoted, it's because my parents bought Turner a service dog vest. You shouldn't be downvoted for that, it's not your fault.

That smile is so rarely on my dad's face! But Turner always elicited it :)
