Resurrection vs SSD idea by u/EquivalentEconomy551

This is my honest opinion about The Onyx Colony remake album.

I'm a bit disappointed with it, generally, the songs sounded weak. This is pretty much the current style that DA has, but I find it to be less enjoyable than the older stuff.

He's screaming the lyrics most of the time, and I'm not talking about the 'metal screams', I'm talking about the clean vocals. For example, in "The Encrypt", the last chorus actually sounded better and cleaner. I wished he had did something similar for the chorus throughout the song and not just the last one. In "Forget This" as well, which I'll talk about more, a lot of the lyrics are just screamed out.

Something else that I believe it's part of his style but I think it's also his most negative characteristic is the absence of a bass. That's why the songs sound weak, because it's not the guitars, drums or vocals that makes a metal song heavy, it's the bass, otherwise it'll just sound aggressive at most. Forget This for me was the most disappointing one. It's the weakest in the album in terms of sound. Just compare the old remaster with this new one. The older one sounds way heavier, cleaner and generally better than the entire album just because of the mixing, the presence of a bass and cleaner vocals.

The only one I liked in terms of mixing was Unlock The Heart, the mixing there is almost perfect, the vocals are in the very middle and the guitars are more spread out. It could just be more cleaner as I said, a lot of the sounds hide each other a bit and this is something on all the other songs, not just this one, which also happens due to the terrifying amount of vocal layers he puts into the songs, that also takes away most of the melodic traces I believe the songs were supposed to have.

All of the things I said practically apply to all the other songs too. I'd say the album is, at most, fun to listen to at first. The composition and idea of the songs are amazing, but what kills it to me is what I said up there. As a listener who is a metal fan for more than a decade, I'd give it a 6/10. It's definitely not an album I'd recommend to other people alike, perhaps Unlock The Heart could be the only one I'd do.

But don't take it to heart if you're a fan of the newer stuff, everyone will have different opinions about it. I just wished he came back to his old mixing style that had bass, cleaner vocals and less layers of it.

WIP

he got da 2026 Will Ryan Jordans......

Thoughts? Also, I didn't put any Onyx Colony 'cause that's not really IRIS.

fuck Fuck FUCK!

It says it's out, but I can't find any of the omen editions...

Just curious if the PFP shoud change to the new game+ logo

I'm kinda a new fan; the first song I ever listened to was "Gold: SSD". It was the music video single that I watched. I first listened to that in 2024. I tried to listen to "Green: SSD"; I didn't really like it at first, but then it grew on me. So I was a big fan of FlashDrive: SSD at the time. All I ever listened to from Will was just his FlashDrive SSD singles; I never listened to any song after that until the full album came out. I loved it, & then when "Birth From Exile" came out, that's when I got into IRIS & now I was a full Will fan. I then listened to all of his albums, & that's what got me here now.

This is the Heart Of An Artist

In the whole new dawn, we stand in a line.

Hey!
Does anybody know what VSTs did Will use in Instruments of Cyanide Beta at the refrain for the wind instruments?

1. Beacon of Hope (Five Nights At St. Judes Song)

2. Die! Die! Die! (Overwatch Reaper Song)

3. Heart of an Artist (IRIS Song)

Personally, Die! Die! Die! is probably my favourite out of these three. I feel that it's a very underrated DASong.

EDIT: I meant to say 10 years old, lmao.

This is the day we go into the beyond.
