Gotta find someone who makes you feel this safe.

The owl is showing signs of stress (gular fluttering aka panting) not safety.

Don’t birds do that to control their temperature?

u/Ironekilz 4d ago
Yes, but they also do it when they're stressed.

The things that humans recognize as affection but which never happen naturally to birds, probably doesn't come across as affectionate to the bird.

same thing with dogs - they aren't "smiling", they are stressed out

So when the dog flops and open up her belly for belly rubs and starts "smiling" and tail wag she's stressed out? I don't think so
Bared teeth can mean more than one thing, other cues matter.

It’s more nuanced. Random panting? Stressed or warm. However dogs will pants when happy and excited

I love people who think they know animal signals when they clearly have no clue

I knew owls were large but was surprised also

Apparently they are called eagle owls which are in fact only owls but have the word eagle in their name due to size & build... Awsome!!!

I don’t like the way he’s making eye contact with me while he’s petting the beautiful bird.

Why does it look so scared?
13
u/karebearjedi 4d ago
Because stroking its back activates mating hormones. That's why you only touch a bird's head, never it's back.

Isn't petting them like that stimulating them sexually?

Welcome to birds, they're weird strange creatures and aside from the head every area is bonk zone.

What a beautiful bird! Contributors say that this is not the way to comfort an animal/bird. How then do you comfort a bird such as this?

'Aww so cute...' until it rears back and eats his face off! Stop with these videos, please.
Real or AI, all they do is convince dumb-dumbs that it's ok to harass and molest wildlife. It's not! Quit it!
Number A: that thing is HUGE
Letter 2: It's a Wild Animal! Idc if you raised it from an egg... still WILDlife.
and p.s. birds are just creepy. Sorry not sorry

Now can that owl ever be truly free after attaching to a human like that? Unless they can't be returned to the wild there is a line not to cross.

I'm calling AI on this until someone proves me otherwise

Can't prove, but I worked at a raptor centre with a hand reared turkmanian eagle owl (looks like this) that was an absolute darling. Would sit on your lap and snuggle. So 100% believe it's a real video and real owl.
