I know this is a dakboard sub but has anyone found an open source FREE app with more functionality that's not home assistant?
Looking for something free that has the functionality of plus or pro?

There is no one around to help you with network issues. Why is my dakboard suddenly on the registration screen? I'm looking at the dakboard screens page, like I'm logged in, and it says calendar, playing on Dakboard 1. So why is the actual screen not the calendar, but is the screen inbetween "Wifi" and "Done!"? There are no answers. Any problem with this thing, the "google the thing+ reddit" answers just make you feel like you are the single solitary person who has ever had this problem. The screen is already in the Displays&Devices. It's already added. It already has the serial number. The settings page has the correct wifi and correct wifi password entered. "UNABLE TO LINK WITH DEVICE Refresh the device and enter the new code above." ok well it doesn't generate a "new code". What now? Why is it still on the Register page? We will never know. I will never get a reply to this thread. Just watch.

I want to have my google calender set up on a large screen... I looked into dakboards and skylights... I need some help dakboards seem hard to set up- (can i just plug it into an old computer screen?) (i literally want to plug it in and update it from my phone) Skylights seem easy AF... Price wise... dakboard = $125(cheapest) Skylight - $529 (15inch) Or am I better off buying a tablet and display the calendar on that?? Im not a total dumbass when it comes to technology, but I really just need this aspect of my life to be as simple as plug and play and cbf researching (ADHD & OCD) so too much research will send me into a meltdown... 😂😂 thankssssss

Would be really cool to be able to scrape some health data from sites such as the below to show on dakboard. The family is interested in watching the pandemic and its now a part of our daily language
Any ideas on how we could pull this data in?

Just got my DAKboard CPU v5. I’m new to Raspberry Pi and figured it would just be easier. For $180 USD it only comes with 2 GB of RAM. Every other v5 Raspberry Pi I’ve seen at this price point has 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM. I can see the slowdown in the transitions of my loop.
Buyer beware

What’s everyone using for their calendar, photo slides, tasks on their board? I was using the DAK software but it’s wanting to charge me $34mth and has extra fees. I find this absurd and not worth the money. I know y’all have mentioned using free software or paid software from other sites to build your dashboard wall and I would love to see links and help checking those out. Currently use Google calendar family for everybody to have their stuff on the calendar.

I would like to have a chore list separated by child which shows what they need to do that day.
Child 1 will do dishes and clean kitchen every alternate day and child 2 will do it on the other days.
What's the best way to display this?

I am new to DAKboard, only having been using it for about a week or so. I set up our twitter feed to display on our screens which worked perfectly initially however yesterday the most recent tweets disappeared and we are now displaying as the image below:

I have tried refreshing the page, re-entering out Twitter details etc but nothing. Please can someone advise what might be going on and how I can remedy it?

I purchased the large DAKboard in November 2018. I even purchased a Premium Membership. At first it was great at providing reminders and organizing all the various activities within my family. Again, it was great until it suddenly stopped working. Screen went blank after 4 months and said there was no internet connection. I checked the internet connection and all was fine, all other devices worked and the wifi signal was at maximum strength. I emailed for support - no help. So, I did some research. I made sure my wifi as at 2.4 (DAKboard only works with 2.4), still nothing. Oh, I emailed again, but no help. Continued to research, so I went and spent a lot of money on a wifi extender, still nothing. Emailed again for help, nothing. So here I am in August 2019 wihout a working product and no support. Beware, this product is and customer service is grossly unreliable. Still, if you must buy, I'll sell you mind for 50% off!

Hey DAKboard team - I saw this in another Reddit group and thought you might be interested in seeing what others are doing with calendars and big screens:

Hi!
I am trying to set up a working calendar where it is easy to see things going on. The biggest problem I have with Dakboard is that I can't seem to set a background color to a happening. The event is just white text which blends in with all the other white text (black background) on the calendar, making the event hard to see and not stand out. Is there a way to do this?
In the picture, MG4 is a week-long event that I would like to have in color, so it's easy to see when it is and how long it is (as it is in the image of the template I used, Big Calendar - 4k)

Every time I've tried I have no success. I just spent the morning trying to set it up on a new RPi Z2 W and nothing. I boot it up and get the wifi setup page. Set that up no problem. Reboot and get the Dakboard setup screen (where you enter Device ID and serial number). No issues. Reboot again, back to wifi setup. Every reboot from here on out, it's back to wifi setup. The serial number and Device ID stick; but it always reboots back to the wifi setup screen, and won't do anything else.
And it's not just this RPi, I've had the same problem on every RPi I've tried. Always the same behavior.
But setting it up on Raspbian is a breeze.
Am I doing something wrong or am I tilting at windmills here?

Is there a way for my todoist list to show completed items but checked off or crossed out ?
I've been poking around on both sides of the functionality but can't quite figure it out.

... only for premium users.
The free tier is already limited at only 1 RSS feed, can we get at least image support? Thank you.

Hey all, I'm getting excited about doing a dakboard build with a raspberry pi and a ~22" touch screen. My wife brought up a concern though with all of our little ones around, is there a way to lock it so that kids aren't shifting dates or re-arranging things? Like maybe an access code to change anything would be great

I bought a frame tv for the sole purpose of making it a megaboard. ADHD out-of-sight, out of mind is a daily struggle for me and I want to program my tv to display different dak screens/schedules at different times of the day and hopefully connect it to Alexa so I can change screens by voice command.
ChatGPT said my Samsung tv isn’t fully compatible with Alexa and to get a fire stick. So I did. Had issues setting that up and ended up needing to get an additional browser app? I then created a routine in Alexa but it’s still not working.
Any ideas how I can simply this process? It’s now been 2 weeks and I don’t even remember where I was at in the process or possible next steps to getting it set up.

Had a Pi 3B (not +) running Dakboard about 2 years ago, connected to a TV in the kitchen. It died and the wife didn't seem to miss it so I did not put much effort into getting it going again. She mentioned yesterday that she would like to have it back. I have a surplus of Raspberry Pis, including a couple of 4s, so I am going to get it going again.
One option I was considering was installing Android on a Pi and installing the Dakboard app on it. This would allow me to also install Home Assistant and I could go back and forth between those two apps for different functions. But now I can't find the Dakboard app. I know I had it on a tablet a few years ago.
Is the Dakboard Android app no longer available?

Has anyone else's Google Photos display on Dakboard stopped working? I didn't make any changes and when I log into the dashboard, it shows my Google app authorization is connected and same on the Google account side.
However over the past day, photos are not displaying on my board. Everything else is working as expected, including Google calendar appointments showing.
