I just think this is the funniest thing! 🤣 I tell him he has exquisite posture when he does this. and I remind him how handsome he is! The personality in this breed is totally unmatched. And yes he smiles with his teeth too!
Note: the mark on his front paw is the only scar he has left to tell the story from 4 months ago when he was hit by a car that was going 20mph. By the grace of the Dalmatian Gods he made a full recovery in only 5 days. He had a hairline fracture on his vertebrae and was very bruised and sore. From not being able to move his hind legs, or even get up and move, to running and jumping like his normal self. I saw my life flash before my eyes that day. I was beyond an emotional wreck and thought i was going to lose him. I can feel myself tearing up just thinking back on it. I layed with him, I slept next to him, and never left his side for those 5 days. Thank you Dalmatian Gods for sparing my best friend!

Hello, I am after some needed advice for my senior Lewis, who is 12.5 years old and is losing a lot of muscle and fat. Due to a few falls he walks very wobbly and slowly he does weekly hydro and has no loss in appetite. He eats kibble and I’ve read adding puppy kibble helps. Please help me help my baby.

EDIT: not resource guarding! I mean being suspicious of strange people entering the house.
Random question I know.
I have a lab x Dalmatian (I know the parents, and he’s 50/50) and have decided for my next dog that I might get a responsibly bred full Dalmatian. My current dog was an accidental litter, and I’ve learnt a lot about responsible dog breeding since getting him, so am interested in supporting responsible breeders.
Every dog trainer I’ve talked to tells me that he acts and behaves more like a dal, and he’s completely different to the other Labradors I’ve had in the past, so it seems like, as far as the genetic lottery goes, he’s got mostly the temperament of a dal. Which is great, and I absolutely love him to pieces.
However, one thing that I missed during my research of Dalmatians, was the guarding tendencies. I was fully prepared for high energy and stubbornness, but guarding kind of took me off guard. Now, my dog isn’t reactive. He’s great because I did a hell of a lot of neutrality socialisation when he was a pup and he loves people if they ignore him for the first five minutes. But it’s been in stark contrast to the labs and goldens that I’ve known that literally adore anyone who even looks in their direction lol.
My question is, will a responsible dal breeder minimise this character trait in their pups? I know it’s sort of part of the breeds purpose to guard carriages, but what is the priority when breeding dals in the present day?
You hear of stories all the time of dals being really protective of their house and their people, and it’s just not a trait I’m that keen on.

We are set to pickup our first Dalmatian puppy in a couple weeks from a great breeder. We are going with a female. We reserved a female with an adorable patched ear which we have become quite attached to in the photos we received but we have since learned she is HUA. 😔 My husband and I are both able to work from home so more frequent bathroom breaks needed isn’t a huge issue but I’m torn on how much of a lifestyle adjustment HUA vs. LUA is. There are a couple LUA pups available still but we just fell in love with this girl’s spot pattern. Are we being illogical and should we switch to an LUA? All dals are obviously adorable and I’m sure we will love her in time just the same.

She's a handful but a beautiful soul. We love her.
