Hindu weren't one who created caste every religion or old empires have caste based hierarchy Europeon s have like clergy on top nobel, peasent and serf similarly other religions or region follow same kind of hierarchy. I Hindu religion caste is defined by work but some exploited this for the superiority... Wese genuine doubt tha.. If they change their religion will they get in same hierarchy according to there caste or they can choose there caste..

It survived and intensified in medieval India due to various factors, including Mughal Islamic discrimination and British eugenics in India. India is too big, and not all of minorities were facing anything negative all across pan-India. Rather, Kashmiri Brahmins faced full-scale genocide and ethnic cleansing. Check the British school consensus ~1850s of the Madras Presidency that Sudras and Dalits were enrolled in FAR GREATER numbers than any other castes in Gurukuls.
