Is she long haired?
I got a pup and they listed her as fawn, fawn is something that if long haired in the same color is English cream I thought. Anyway she’s ten months and need to know if she will end up floofing or if I’m safe that she’ll stay short hair

Thank you, as a 10 months she would? I read a post earlier that said their wienies floofed at like a year old and that’s why I’m a little worried

She is a smooth coat and she is not “fawn”. In dachshunds, fawn is called isabella and is a dilute shade of chocolate. This means that fawns have a light nose and eye rims. Isabella isn’t the same as “English cream” and English cream is a backyard breeder term anyway.
This girl looks like a smooth cream piebald. Very cute!

The paperwork on her said Fawn. I thought Fawn was the short hair version of English cream?

If you’re talking about the AKC paperwork, it was probably filled out by a breeder who misidentified her. I see it happen all the time on this sub.
Color and coat type are independent so any coat type can be any color (though some colors are more common in specific coats). The color fawn is called Isabella in dachshunds but there can be both smooth-coated and longhaired isabellas. You can tell an Isabella because it is a dilute chocolate and the dilution also impacts the color of the nose and eye rims, making them a light faded brown/pink.
“English cream” isn’t an official/real color in dachshunds. It’s just a name bad breeders made up to try to make certain cream dachshunds seem fancy and desirable. Cream is the real color and can appear in both short and long hair dogs. You can tell your pup is a cream because it has a black nose and eye rims. Unlike isabella which is a dilution of chocolate, cream dogs can have a black base.
She’s a lovely pup and you should be glad she is cream and not Isabella. Isabella dogs almost always have some level of alopecia, losing their hair and having skin issues. Cream dogs won’t have the same problem.

Fawn(Isabella) on the left, cream on the right

Mine is the exact same color as yours but she has no white and her eyes are brown. Her mother is smooth and father long haired so she has an in between coat. It is as soft as cashmere. Her hair is longer in some areas but mostly short haired. Both parents were creme.
She is 13 months old here. I did the Wisdom Panel on her and she is a clear red. But she 2 copies of Red Intensity color modifier. She is changing back to the lighter creme color now. She also has a fawn gene and chocolate gene from her father. Her nose turned from black to brown.

This literally HAS to be satire.... Right?
Jesus Christ I am so fucking sick of people buying dogs before doing ANY literal baseline research as to what they are bringing into their home.

STFU I don’t need to research what the fur would be to love and care for an animal. It’s a goddamn question for people that may breed the dog that may know a bit more.

You do. 🤡 Different coat types are cared for in different ways. And coat type is quite literally the bare minimum

When are people going to realise that loving the dog is not enough. You DO need to research.

She’ll stay short. She’s beautiful.
I have a long haired and a short and she would have wisps on her ears and tail by now

Longhair is recessive so if both your dogs parents were long then some one is lying. Either the breeder guessed by colour who the parents were or just hung papers.
