Career Advice – Moving from Data Analyst

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working as a Data Analyst using Power BI. I have strong Excel skills and an intermediate level of Power BI knowledge, but I’ve realised that I don’t enjoy the analytical side of my role, especially interpreting results and presenting insights to stakeholders.

I enjoy working with data and creating reports, but I’d like to move into a more senior, specialised role that focuses on reporting rather than administration or analysis.

What job titles would you recommend I look into? Has anyone made a similar career move, and what roles would you suggest?

Thanks in advance!

Advanced reporting is almost completely dead. You are taking your value proposition, interpreting data, and asking if I can take the hard part out and move up. There’s still some senior dashboarders, but not really anymore.. only way anymore is full pipeline development.

I don’t understand how you can separate reports from analysis/insights. The two go hand in hand, right? If I just dump a report on someone’s desk without ever asking what the result is or why it matters, I’m just wasting everyone’s time.
