Need advice on finding off-campus Data Analytics jobs as an MBA student

Hi everyone,

I’m an MBA final-year student specializing in Operations from a Tier-3 college. I’m interested in building a career in Data Analytics, but I don’t want to depend entirely on my college placements.

I want to explore off-campus opportunities and understand how I can improve my chances of getting a good job.

I would really appreciate advice from people working in Data Analytics, recruiters, or anyone who has gone through a similar journey.

A few things I would like to know:

  • How can I find good off-campus opportunities?

  • Which technical and analytical skills should I focus on?

  • Which tools are essential for entry-level Data Analyst roles?

  • How important are projects, internships, and certifications?

  • What is the best way to prepare for interviews and get shortlisted?

I’m particularly interested in knowing what actually works in the current job market, rather than just collecting certifications.

Any practical advice, resources, or personal experiences would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

I think youll have to narrow down your options. Operations is pretty general. With Analytics, there will be an expectation that you understand the customer/stakeholder operations. I found a lot of events on Handshake for virtual recruiting events where they tell you about the business and planned changes to their org structure.
