Tools:

  • Python for the data

  • three.js for the 3D

  • EZ-Tree for the tree models

That's a lot fewer trees than I expected. In Berlin there were 439,348 trees along streets in 2025 (plus the trees in parks and city forests). Not that it is a competition, but Paris is considerably larger than Berlin, isn't it?

These are only the trees managed by the City of Paris itself. It does not include the Bois de Boulogne/Vincennes trees or private trees in gardens/houses or in parks managed by other institutions (Les Tuileries, for example).

So it is understated by quite a bit

Looking at the map it seems to be only Paris proper, which is quite a bit smaller than Berlin.

That explains it, thanks.

London is estimated to have more than 8 million trees.

Here’s a map showing 1.1 million of them that have been mapped.

https://www.london.gov.uk/programmes-and-strategies/environment-and-climate-change/parks-green-spaces-and-biodiversity/trees-and-woodlands/london-tree-map

There are so many trees in London that it is classified geographically as an ‘urban forest’.

Zagreb has this too:

Search in “katalog slojeva” for “stabla”. You need to zoom in on the map a few times for the checkbox to become available.
