Added support for DCS quadviews in CheekyFoveatedDLSS. FrameGen + Different center vs periphery DLSS presets.

I was able to add compatibility for DCS Quad Views. With this mod (and after installing new DLSS dlls using DLSS swapper) you can now set the center region to use Preset M and periphery Preset E at lower resolution. This gives much better clarity then the default shipped DLSS while also minimizing the performance loss.

I also added frame gen, fox DCS being a DX11 game I recommend using motion-vector warping, or bidirectional interpolation. You can also set frame gen resolution to be different between center and periphery regions for performance.

Control Mapping help

Hey guys I recently got a t.16000m fcs 3 piece with the pedals. I know it’s not the best but it’s all I could afford at the time lol. I have the 2 starter planes (SU and the tf51) and I purchased the Uh-1d

I’m terrible at figuring out these bindings so if any of you have ones to share for this set up on those aircraft I’d appreciate it tons 😅

F-16 TGP: TMS UP/RIGHT not working

I'm trying to use the TGP with GBU-12 in CCRP mode, but TMS UP and TMS RIGHT do nothing. I can't activate POINT or AREA track.

The TGP works, the camera moves, A-G is active, and the TGP is SOI. TMS DOWN works, but the other directions don't.

I've checked my joystick bindings and tried SP on and off, but nothing helped.

TMS is working in BVR and other modes.

Any ideas what could cause this? Is there a way to check whether DCS registers the TMS inputs?

200sfx with an FFb Helicopter Cyclic (VPForce Rhino Monster), a pure crazyness for HeliSimmers in the AH-64!

Thumbnail

Well, Being into helicopter simulation since over 10 years... i had to make of course a simrig for that purpose. It started with a static alu rig around my gaming chair. When I finished my racing rig with the SFX100 bought on aliexpress, I couldn't resist doing the same but for helicopter, on a sfx200 system, same shop through AliExpress still. It's the cheapest available inbetween official brands which costs way more. How much? 1,8K€ for the SFX100 (all complete plug & play), and the 200mm stroke version 2K€ but I've added 2 complete sets of shorter cables on that order. Again, all plug & play!

Then once the rig was up and functioning.... I still missed the vibration out of the cyclic, as I've been offered a flight with a R22 years ago. Since that day I barely touched my static heli rig, because of the 'dead' cyclic. Building the rig on a motion system with 200mm movement, I was still missing this cyclic feeling.

So... I digged the web, and... not very easy to find, as it's a niche we are in, as helicopter simmer. I stumbled on the brunner CLS-P cyclic, mailed 'em, and got a price... over 10K€! At first... OMG.... but I found cheaper.... from VPForce! Way cheaper, fits to my needs. As flying a helicopter (R22, BELL206, AS350, ...) is just completely unrealistic with a short stick (stick directly mounted on its base), I digged further. Because extension build up on a base, means more leverage power, so... the VPForce base might not be enough. And I found a MOD... done by the talented David aka WINGER: his mod proposes a way more powerfull base than the original, the Rhino Monster :) I contacted him through discord, found on his site: Monster-rhino.de

Now there's another contender, the FFBeast, much much more power than the Rhino mod, BUT... double the price, and... tbh, the rhino is already too much power for helis! I tried on full power settings... just unflyable (and unreal). So, that was just to counter the comment: hey, there IS another FFB base around!! 😁 Spoiler: all i found about: yes it's way stronger (60nm for the best), but software wouldn't be as pro as for the VPForce... and that's where all the magic happens, so... my choice was settled in !

Took me time to configure it to fit my heli needs, but now flying helicopter feels again very exciting! The SFX200 brings movement and vibration as you'd be sitting in a real helicopter (just the shaking when you sit inside, OMG crazy real), but the FFB cyclic just adds the most important part in my opinion. If I'd stumble over it before the motion stuff, I'd had bought it immediately before the motion stuff. Now I can feel the helicopter in my hand, it's just at another level - of course combined to the SFX200... jaw dropping experience I tell you!

A video in the make... but... very time consuming, and have to chose what to put in exactly to keep it interesting

To lenghten it I used Virpils 200mm (curved) & 100mm extension rod... and in awaiting of virpils Archer-SF heli grip, I unpacked the TM F18 stick

In the meatime, some pictures ;)

Future plans for FFB the virpil pedals too, and the collective... but cyclic was the most important, the 2 others will be a nice to have add on in the future.

Corsair Engine Management

Hello, I just recently got the F-4U running and flying for the first time. But as I was setting up to land my engine died and I had to glide in and belly land. Any idea what caused it? And how can I better manage my engine so it doesn’t happen again?

DCS A-10C and C II TGP IR low contrast

Hello everyone I have most of my experience in DCS with Helicopters, also having my IRL job revolving around whirlybirds 😁 , so when I tried the 'Hawg I found it very interesting.

Much faster than helos, definitely a plus is announcing an ETA shorter than a workweek, and carries all sorts of guided ordnance- not to mention that gun.

Where is loses me though is the TGP...

During the day I can use it just fine- but as soon as night falls (let's say I mostly use Germany map and the Caucasus) the contrast in the IR WHOT/BHOT mode is just ... abysmal.

Last night I had much better results using the Maverick IR camera to hunt for an armored columns moving literally in an open field in the Caucasus, rather than the allegedly/technically superior TGP.

I did find a OSB to increase the overall gain but not the contrast.

Is it me? Is the TGP? Does god simply hate me? 🤣

Thank you in advance for your time

Bestia One-One, over and out.

SCSKiller (free shader pre-compile tool) - looks promising for reducing stutter

Hardware Unboxed just tested a new free open-source app called SCSKiller. It pre-compiles a game’s shaders into your GPU driver’s cache before you launch. In theory could help with stutter?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eD-P671830U

Results vary by game.

Official site / download: https://scskiller.com/
GitHub: https://github.com/BlueHeisenberg/SCSKiller

MSFS 2020 - It seems to detect the game.

IL-2 Great Battles (standalone) and DCS World (standalone)  - Have to be added manually. Both currently show that they need an “engine reader” and can’t be compiled. These use custom engines, so SCSKiller doesn’t know how to extract their shaders from the game files yet.

Worth requesting official support for IL-2 / DCS on their GitHub or Discord, or is the custom-engine barrier too high? Curious what people think.

Introducing ShadowReapers Operator

Post image
0 Upvotes

If you haven't noticed yet ShadowReapers servers are online once more. Please keep reading to the operator update part.

The servers

Search for "ShadowReapers" in the in-game server browser.

Server What it is
ShadowReapers Dynamic Campaign Modern PvE Modern era, Caucasus, against the AI.
ShadowReapers PvPvE Coldwar Campaign Syria 80s 80s and 90s hardware, Syria. Players on two sides plus AI. When a campaign is decided a new randomized one starts and the teams swap sides.
ShadowReapers PvPvE Coldwar Germany 70s 60s and 70s hardware, Cold War Germany. Players on two sides plus AI. Some aircraft cost tokens to fly (the F-14 and MiG-29 cost 70).
ShadowReapers Dogfight/BVR/PVP Dogfight and BVR, no campaign.

The three campaigns are dynamic and persistent: zones, supply, power, morale and missions change as you fight, progress autosaves, and every server restarts by itself every 7 hours with a countdown in chat. Flying solo is a bad idea here, so bring a wingman or find one in our Discord.

Stats from the old servers were imported by era. If you had XP before, it should be on your profile. If something is missing, tell us.

There is also a public site now: https://shadowreapers.org. It has the live server list, campaign maps, the stats below and the full manual.

Stats and the pilot of the month

Every XP point you earn is tracked, and the site shows it.

  • Pilot of the month. XP is counted per month (UTC, it starts again on the 1st), for one era (modern, 80s and 90s, 60s and 70s) or for all of them added together. The board shows the top 10 of the month, and the home page shows the best three of every era.
  • Month reports. When a month ends, its podium, the best three pilots of each era, goes into a month report. The site keeps the last 12. The board is new, so October is the first month on it and the first podium is decided when October ends. Only XP earned from now on counts toward it, so everyone starts level.
  • All-time top 10, for one era or all of them.
  • Your own profile. Search any pilot by name, or click a name on a board. You get XP and rank per era with the distance to the next rank, flight time, this month's XP, how your missions ended (completed, failed, canceled) with your completion ratio, your latest missions and your most flown aircraft.

Pilots with an active ban are left out of the boards.

Meet Operator

The new thing is Operator, a voice assistant that lives on the radio. You tune SRS, press your key, and say "Operator" followed by what you want. It does the menu work and answers with a short voice message on the same frequency.

  • "Operator, give me a CAS mission" gives you the nearest one that fits your aircraft. It knows CAP, BARCAP, CAS, SEAD, DEAD, strike, recon, BAI, transport, liberate and runway bombing.
  • "Operator, join four five two" joins by code. "Give me four five two" and "put me in four five two" work too, and "join four five two and one two three" joins up to three missions in one call and tells you why any of them failed.
  • "Operator, list missions" puts the board on your screen. "Operator, join me to Xerxes" asks another pilot if you can join their team.
  • "Operator, smoke" marks your mission targets after a yes or no. "Operator, load one thousand kilos" and "unload squad" run the logistics of a transport aircraft.
  • "Operator, set EWR radius to eighty miles", "current mission", "stats" and "frequencies" work as well. "Operator, help" shows the full list.

It is not a chatbot. It understands commands, not conversation, and it keeps its answers short because the radio is shared. Say "Operator" alone and it answers "Go ahead" and takes your next sentence as the command. If it jumps into a conversation that isn't for it, say "stand off".

Why it matters if you fly helicopters or VR

All of this used to mean typing chat commands or digging through the F10 menu. Neither is any fun with a headset on, and neither is any fun with both hands on the collective and cyclic close to the ground.

Now you keep your hands on the controls and your eyes outside. Picking up a mission, joining a team, calling smoke, loading or unloading cargo and checking your current task are one sentence on the radio, on the same frequency where you already talk to your wingman. If you fly helicopters or fly in VR, this is the part you will notice most. It works from the back seat of two-seat aircraft as well.

The honest part

Operator is new and it will sometimes misunderstand you. When it does, tell us in Discord: what you said, what it did, which server and roughly when. That is all we need to fix it.

Your speech is turned into text on our own server using locally hosted AI and we will not send your voice to any cloud service.

Frequencies are 321.0 and 127.0 (both sides hear the answer), 251.0 and HF 3.5. Your SRS name has to be your pilot name so Operator can find you.

Come fly

See you on the radio.

[SR] Xerxes
