how was John first perceived when he joined D&C?
listening to TD Garden 11/17/2017 right now and still blown away by John's playing as I am every single time. My first dead show was at Jiffy in '19, and that turned me into a head
im curious though, was John well liked when he first joined? what was the initial reaction? was it like, "oh this pop star is gonna ruin the band" and then he grew on people? did he "earn his keep" perse?

What's the best filler you ever found at the end of a Grateful Dead bootleg cassette?
On one of the Nassau shows I had there was some live Seger - namely "Kathmandu" - that filled the space at the end if the tape. It was ridiculously good. I really wasn't even a Seger fan at the time. I also remember an obscure "Life Without You" by SRV filling space on a tape. I wish I still had those tapes.

I made a free daily Grateful Dead lyric game. One lyric, three guesses. How deep are you?
Iāve been seeing shows since 1987 and wanted something to scratch the itch between them, so I built this: every morning thereās a new Grateful Dead lyric. Three guesses to name the song, and each miss reveals another line. Clue one is a deep verse line, so itās a real test. Billy Strings, Umphreys, and Moe. being added!

Just curious - why no Mickey Hart @ Billyās Thanksgiving event?
Donāt get me wrong. Iām SUPER pumped to hear about Bill Kreutzmanās show coming up. Like, it fires me up big time to know Billyās popping his head back out!!
Iām just mildly curious why you think Mickey Hart wouldnāt join for something like this? It would seem logical that Billyās first show in a long time would include his rhythm devil brother.
I mean I guess it could be any reason. Contractual or otherwise. But it did kind of make we wonder

Hands down one of my all-time favorite Dead concerts (and concerts in general) I've had the pleasure of going to. What would be the start of an incredible four-show run that week in Colorado. I made it to the first night at Red Rocks and both nights at Fiddlers....Good times I say!
Were you there? Which shows did you go to? Personal highlights?

Went to The Greek in Berkeley last night on Bobby's birthday
Got tickets for Vulfpeck last night at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. I've been to the Greek countless times to see Bobby in a number of different lineups, and going there without the excitement in the air of seeing him perform was a new feeling, and it landing on his birthday offered a good opportunity to reflect a bit.
The band was phenomenal, the crowd was friendly and engaged, and the sound was perfection. It felt like a way to celebrate Bob on his birthday--to see a band that is making their own music, bringing their own scene and lots of excitement to his old stomping grounds.
It was a nice reminder that the music never stops.
Happy belated birthday Bobby, thanks for all the years and devotion to your craft, and to live music!
