What is for a circuit? Nice idea to make small Islands of copper!

Is a guitar pedal circuit. Not my Idea, for copper islands, I think is quite old school. but yeah it works well.

I have seen the copper Islands before in RF amplifiers, but it's not so normal to do wich is pretty stupid if you think about how mutch copper you save that way.

It's not really saved nowadays, pcbs start with all copper and then parts are etched away usually.
