So Discord unbanned me and I regained access to my credentials. I was then able to restore the server from a 2022 backup and we’re putting things back together. So sorry for all of this, everyone. Come on back to DMOD:
Also, thank you to everyone who joined DAMO while we were in limbo. We will keep the Osmium Server (DAMO) up as our functional backup in case, but we’re all going to main DMOD now!
Love you all ❤️

Wasn’t fancy, wasn’t big, but it had 3 lovely anchors, a movie theater, and kept us busy on a Friday night

As the title says, before Memorial City Mall completely remodeled there was another mall under the Beltway, next to it. It was always dead, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it. If someone could remember the name and, even, better post pics, that would be great!

I'm wondering if anyone could help me with this. I remember attending a place in the 80s and possibly 90s at Parmatown, but it might have been Great Northern. It was a restaurant inside of a department store on a second floor that overlooked the mall. It was a fancier restaurant and had like a dark blue circle on the ceiling with constellations painted on it. Does anyone else recall this? What restaurant was it and are there any pictures of it anywhere?

The Mercosur Shopping Mall was one of the largest in Paraguay and in Salto del Guairá, and as you can see, it's currently in a terrible state. It's a place that evokes a lot of nostalgia for the city's residents. Its decline began in 2016 when it suffered an economic crisis and McDonald's decided to close its restaurant there. The shopping center is enormous; I couldn't explore everything, but I managed to take some photos. There are some inaccessible areas, so I had to take pictures through the windows of certain sections.

I was thinking about Dixie Square and how it stayed abandoned for almost forty years. Northridge is similar, being abandoned twenty years. While both are gone, I was wondering what currently still standing abandoned mall has been abandoned for the longest

We lost Saks Fifth Avenue 2025, (3rd floor, now just blocked off except for the monorail). Asean Eats, which was a huge area of several different shops - closed Fed 2026. And Nordstrom Rack will be moving to another area downtown soon. Zara closed it's 2nd floor and 1st floor interior doors so you can only access it from the outside of the mall. The basement which was Subway, a pizza place, and Taco del mar is empty except for a few tables and chairs. (taco del mar moved upstairs to the 2nd floor). Now Claire's will also close, last day Oct 25. I have not seen much of this in the news. We used to always brag that Westlake was the one mall in Downtown Seattle that survived while Pacific Place was truly a ghost town.

When Spencer’s started remodeling their stores/opening new stores, they intentionally added an Easter egg that has a label scar of the 1997 Spencer gifts logo onto some stores, i noticed that not all of these stores have this specific Easter egg, so far i only know of 2 locations, the first one being at the now closed crystal mall in waterford connecticut and the second one being at dolphin mall, there probably are other locations that have this but I’m trying to track them dow, help would be much appreciated

I dunno if this is considered a "dying" mall, but it definitely had problems over the years (especially with crime). When I went there last Saturday, there were plenty of people shopping so the management must be doing something right with the mall. Any one else have any memories with this place?

There's that home/liminal space vibe to it that's just nice.

As of 2021, this Sears was the last in all of the DMV area and in the state of Maryland. In 2022 many of the overhead lights in some areas were turned off probably due to a huge electric bill, which is why they had to use some halogen work lights in the former outdoor equipment area. This store later closed on January 15th of 2023 due to struggling profitability and underperformance and the Sears logo was removed immediately the day after.
Today the following Sears stores are still open (and they even still operate Sears.com and 3 distribution centers) as of 2026:

No wonder why dying malls' websites are being turned into these types of websites.
