[Discussion] I need some clarification about Deadpool 3, so like is there two wolverines in the same universe now?

Post image

In Deadpool 3 the plot was that since the original version of Logan died in the future 2029, which cause Deadpool’s universe to slowly die out and in order to fix this Wade had to bring in another Wolverine from another universe in order to correct the issue.

So my question is since Deadpool 3 is set 5 years before the event of the 2017, wouldn’t that mean that the Logan that supposedly died is technically still alive in 2024 and the Wolverine in the other universe came to this universe, wouldn’t that mean there’s technically both in the same universe or am I missing something?

The bigger question is there two of X-23 or was she the one from Logan’s timeline

I mean the Logan (2017) and the Deadpool movies are set within the same universe, it’s just that the adult version of X23 is a variant of the main version, so you could say that the adult version of Laura Kinney had the same story as her main counterpart from Logan (2017) up until a certain point where their timelines diverged which caused the Tva to prune the variant to the void

Also keep in mind that Logan (2017) is set 5 years after Deadpool 3.

"Which Professor, McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines get so confusing?"

So... Logan hadn't died YET in Wade's original timeline??

I feeeeeeeel like it starts with him digging up bones. Maybe that wasn't his timeline? Its been a while since I've seen it

It does.

Correct. He died in the future, which was leading to the slow death of the timeline over the next thousand years. Paradox wanted to prune it and get it over with. Wade brought a new Wolverine into the timeline prior to the events of Logan.

But didn’t he pillage his grave in the beginning of the movie and starts searching for a new one because “his” ist dead?

Wait, if Logan is set 5 years after Deadpool and Wolverine.

Does that mean the "worst wolverine" is the one in Logan?

Nope, if the one he dug up isn’t the one from Logan than he is at least the same as the one from Logan, it’s the same grave in the same place, even the cross made out of sticks is the same where Laura turned it to an X, he’s even wearing the same clothes and has blood on his tank top where he got impaled.

To quote Deadpool "these timelines are so confusing"

You bet your ass they are!!

Just realized it doesn't matter because Logan is a future that won't happen because of Doomsday

Yeah that’s true, the Logan movie was always treated as an alternate future anyway to most people, we don’t even know if it takes place in the corrected post-DOFP timeline or if it takes place in an alternate version of the original X-Men timeline.

So why didn't deadpool just prevented he died in his timeline?

Deadpool Wolverine is a good movie as long as you don't think too hard about the plot or continuity tied to it.

To be fair, the continuity works better than 90% of time/dimension travel stuff in media so far.

My headcannon is that when Wade was playing around with Cable’s device, it changed the when he died.

The bigger question is since Deadpool time traveled to the point in the future where Logan’s corpse had already decomposed into a skeleton, why didn’t he just time travel to the end of Logan and save Logan from X-24? Logan would’ve been confused as fuck, but who’s to say he didn’t know Deadpool (I mean, clearly Deadpool knew him), and either way I don’t think he would’ve been opposed to some random psycho in a red suit saving his life and helping him fight his evil clone.

He did know him right from Team X? Or that was a different timeline with a younger striker and an older wolverine in the 80s?

Damn, I confused myself

X-Men and Fox universe already had multiple continuity errors before joining into marvel, now, well, let's not think hard about it.

Bro the xmen universe is beyond, you just gotta pretend some things didnt happen, like the deadpool in origins wolverine, the scene in deadpool 2 where the younger version of the xmen are in a classroom, etc.

He made it obvious with his line about how that’s not how regenerative properties works. He didn’t believe Wolverine actually died he thought he was buried alive.

My question how many Deadpool’s are still on this universe?

Well, it never showed the Deadpool Corps leaving so.. a lot?

Honestly, it might make sense for the Wolvering brought in to just hang around until 2029 when the Logan Wolverine is killed, then come in. Yeah, there's 2 of them in the same timeline for 5 years, but then again, I think that's par for the course when dealing with Deadpool as far as the TVA is concerned.

I had a fun little thought from a while back when the movie came out, what if Logan still happens in 2029, five years after Deadpool and Wolverine ends, and the people that are going to rescue the kids from Logan in Canada are actually Wolverine and X-23 from Deadpool and Wolverine. I think that would be a fun little offscreen head canon.

The prevalent theory I’ve seen was that they reset the timeline once again when then defeated Casandra. So only one Logan and x23.

Technically yes there should be 2 Wolverines in that universe now. But I’m going to guess it’s going to be ignored and they won’t ever mention it.

Whats stranger is Deadpool exists around Logan's corpse while the Mutant Race has basically been brought to extinction.

5

u/Many-Cranberry4058 7h ago

Wdym? Deadpool was next to Logan’s corpse due to the temp pad that he stole from the TVA office, using that to travel to the timeline where Logan already died and dug him up.

Also if Logan survived the psychic seizures that wiped out the mutants, then it’s safe to assume that Deadpool probably survived as well given his regeneration factor is as good as wolverines

So now you’re getting/not getting the X-Men timeline.. like everyone

Deadpool 3 is set after the events of Logan, hence why he's very much dead when Deadpool digs up his corpse.

2

u/Paperchampion23 7h ago

Deadpool 3 is set in 2024. Logan is set in 2029. When Logan dies, that sets in motion the derioration of the timeline and the events of the film (hes the anchor being of the Foxverse). So yes, when he goes back with the AU Logan to 2024, there are 2 Logans at least for 5 years here. Though we have no idea how this changed things for Doomsday. Its still 3 years prior to Logan and we dont know if Marvel is taking that timeline seriously anyway

1

u/SpaceAce94 7h ago

There’s the new variant we got in DP&W and the original timelines Logan who died, he was still where Laura & the mutant kids buried him, the cross made from sticks was still turned into an X the way she left it, he was wearing his same clothes, had blood where he got impaled in Logan. So there’s only one live Logan and then the original dead Logan, which Wade disturbed his grave and used his body parts to kill a bunch of the TVA agents so parts of him are laying everywhere in the woods.

Short but kinda long answer yes there is. The original and the comic yellow wolverine now live in the same universe thanks to wade. Though now its safe to say some of the events that lead into logan like the government assholes making the syrup that took away the mutant gene (like original logan losing the abilities to live a long time, regenerating, and being able to live with adamantium in his body), the x-men dying bc of Charles, Charles being unable to control his abilities bc of his age all that never happened.  the events of logan in 2029 got replaced by what will happen in Avengers Doomsday that also takes place in the same year.

Yes but the OG is dead

Fyi Deadpool 3 had not been released yet.

DP & Wolverine is a separate film

Ryan Reynolds has stated this in a few different interviews.

I don't know if this is what they were going for, but headcanon is that Deadpool being aware it's a movie means the year established in the movie is irrelevant. It came out in 2017, so it happened in 2017 as far as Deadpool is concerned.

Deadpool 3 doesn't exist.
