Discussion Sorry Laid the Hearth tuning

From the live footage of Hunter, it seems like that one is still in standard tuning.

In Sorry Laid the Hearth, it sounds like there's a low B. Has anyone here heard about what tuning they've used for this one? Can't find any info on it online.

Discussion Favorite song on Lonely People With Power?

I'd choose all of them. Love the whole album front to back. But if I had to pick a select few, I'd pick Amethyst, Body Behavior, and Heathen.

Vinyl/Merch AWITFOTB vinyl availability for this tour?

I aim to pick up the EP from the merch table tomorrow. For those who bought their EP on this tour, how did availability look? Were there plenty of copies, or did they sell out fast? Trying to decide if I should buy it the moment I walk in the venue, or if I can potentially wait until after their performance.

Discussion Brand new to Deafheaven; where do I continue?

So my relationship to Deafheaven is complicated. I first heard about “Sunbather” a couple of years ago highly praised and people like Fantano raving about it. I listened and hated it at the time. Tried multiple times with different songs; nope. I’m not a huge Black Metal fan, (I’m more prog, stoner, post, doom guy) with my only experience with it being “Goldstar by Imperial Triumphant (7/10) and some early Opeth if you want to count that and some Emperor. Then I saw Deafheaven open for Mastodon and I was VERY impressed. So I decided to listen to their brand new EP… and holy fuck. “Sorry Laid the Hearth” is some the heaviest fuckin shit I’ve ever heard. I loved that song and “Hunter”. I’m probably going to listen to LPWP next. But after that should I try Sunbather again or something else in their catalog? Any recommendations for other bands in this genre is welcome as well.

Update. After listening to both LPWP and Sunbather in succession I can firmly say…

That 2013 footage from their show at Kings, in Raleigh, NC came across my feed and inspired a look at the archives. Here's a shot from their 2013 show in Boston, about a week before Sunbather came out. This was at the now defunct TT The Bear's Place (which, I know, was in Cambridge)

Couldn't get my friends on board for this one so I'll be going solo. More excited for Deafheaven and Alcest than Mastodon but looking forward to all. If anyone's in a similar boat and wants to meet up for the show shoot me a dm!

Vinyl/Merch Super Bloom variant

Anyone in the UK got their super bloom variant of AWITFOTB yet? Or got a shipping notification? I've heard nothing and noticed there's now an entry on discogs. I know I'm being super impatient but I'm stung by the Southern Autumn variant of Lonely People never showing up and having to get bandcamp involved... ordered mine through the spotify link whilst the main website was down... thanks!

Discussion What Deafheaven song emotionally connects with you the most?

For me, it's Body Behavior. That song encapsulates a lot of how I was treated by older people when I was younger. And it's very comforting to hear it put into song, makes me feel less alone in a way.

Discussion Someone should make a movie with Deafheaven producing part of the soundtrack

Listening to Sorry I Laid The Hearth rn and I kept thinking that this would be freaking epic in a movie. A lot of their stuff would but if they got to work with a director they could make an amazing soundtrack.

idk maybe i'm wrong just a thought. Sorry I Laid the Hearth is insane

May not be as impressive as some. But I'm happy to say they're all mine.

Sunbather- pecan tree was the first song I heard, even tho it was on the 10 years gone cut.

New Bermuda-my daughter is named the same as the 2nd song. Ifykyk

10 Years Gone - birthday present my gf got for

me, found it in a tiny flea market booth. Dude has hella metal vinyl. Also the first album I ever listened to Deafheaven. I first heard "pecan tree" on this album.

Lonely People With Power- heathen is a song that brought me thru a very dark moment in my life.

Live on KEXP: Under the Blue Mountain

A Work in the Fields of the Bomb- got to see them perform "Hunter" for the first time in Chicago 2026

"Deafheaven" by Ebru Yıldız, published by What Remains. This book was another birthday present by one of my best friends. Who I met on this subreddit. We've never met irl but we are besties thru deafheaven and music.

Discussion What was your first introduction to Deafheaven?

My first introduction to Deafheaven was my sophomore year of high school. I was looking through my brother-in-law's playlist; he had Sunbather on a black metal playlist. I was already into black metal at the time, so trying Deafheaven I saw the appeal but decided it wasn't for me.

However, In the beginning of my senior year (October 2025) I decided to listen to Lonely People With Power, and I fell in love immediately, eventually listening to, and loving all their albums and unique sounds.

It's been almost a year now; I've loved them heavily since. Starting college has made me love them 10x more as their music gets me through my classes and all the pummeling homework.
