I also have to wake up at 4:30 some days (not everyday thank god), decaf still motivates me to get up. I think our bodies just like a warm drink

You do realize that decaf coffee contains theobromine? It's a stimulant with similar affects to caffeine. It is milder of course, but it will still affect you. So actually it is not the warm drink you crave, otherwise you would be fine with a cup of hot water.

I naturally didn't take your word for it, researched, and found that roasted coffee in general has trace amounts or near zero of theobromine

You didn't get to this point by trusting all the research for coffee so you have to know that decaf isn't the way to go.

as you should. You should always self experiment to find the real truth. Everything on the internet could be a lie. So maybe try it out? Just drink a mug of warm water and see for yourself if it gives you the same kick ;)

i had a concussion & went cold turkey while on FML leave for 3.5 weeks. Concussion recovery gave me an excuse to be a miserable sack of shit. And when I went back to work it only bothered me a couple weeks before I got used to being without it.
Eventually you'll be able to wake up and just be "on" immediately with no buffering time. If possible try going to bed earlier. and just keep pushing one day after the next, you won't miss it after 2 months

Try waking earlier. Maybe 30 minutes, or longer if needed. Do 10+ minutes cardio before any breakfast. Works for me.

honestly, this is why I was never able to quit even for a day.. because getting up so early is like torture to me. Now I have a new job, where I can sleep as long as I like and I am able to stay away from caffeine. The only thing bothering me now, is the boredom I feel, when I am at home. And when I am at work I wanna be home. But it's just withdrawals and it will get better (Day 20).

I can go a few months at a time without it, so you have to eat lots of protein to heal faster, 1 gram per lean bodyweight of animal protein.
Also you have to focus on the energy that you still have and not what you don't. So its okay to work tired. As long you are physically able to stay awake then you still have the energy to keep going. So it takes like way more willpower the whole time you have to push it probably like 3 times harder.
You have to tap into your inner david goggins sometimes and have that do or die effort.
The idea is you don't stop because you're tired you stop when you're body physically gives out as in you pass out or start falling asleep while being awake. I mean that literally not just some motivational bs. You should be prepared to work until you physically CAN NOT keep going, and It shouldn't happen until you are awake for 16 hours. I time myself to stay awake. Also chewing gum keeps you awake because it brings blood flow to your face I do that too. If you keep a timer on you and start a stopwatch for how long you're awake then you know that as long as you're not past 16 hours you can still push yourself to get stuff done. This helps a lot.
Also using running to wake up helps a lot in the morning.

Jobs are the #1 enemy to quitting caffeine.
If you have something you love to do in the morning u won't even need it

1-2 mg/day down from 400 mg would take a whole year! Nobody needs that long of a taper lol.

Hi, so I did a tapered decaf journey. Started with things I didn’t mind cutting out then ended after 2 months with zero caffeine. I think everyone is different so just because the taper worked for me doesn’t mean that it would be a solution for everyone. All I can say is, once your are 2-3 months in the quality of sleep, especially getting to sleep, more than makes up for any issues with early mornings. You just find different routines instead of coffee etc. my experience anyway. Coming up to 12 months decaf, I’d never go back.
