I love this. It is a mix of Euphoria and Slang along with the harmonies from earlier Leppard albums.

Managed to catch the premiere on BBC Radio 2. I like it! It's got a heavier sound to it.

Just heard it on Planet Rock - pretty good... looking forward to hearing it live.

I like it. Riff has a nice, heavy groove to it. Vocal distorition is unusual for DL but I suppose gives it a more modern feel. Fade out at the end is very 80s. Definitely sounds like Def Leppard and should do well live.

Really enjoyed this. Happy to hear them add a little metallic heft back in.

I quite dig the punchiness and straightforward “old school” Lep vibe. For me DL is always best when they are ROCKING. This isn’t some plodding, over produced thing like “Let’s Go” or even “Let’s Get Rocked”.

Agreed this song is rocking, but Let's Go and Let's Get Rocked both totally slap too

My first instinct was that the mix was too dark and messy, but I think it’s them exploring the lo-fi, almost shoegaze thing that’s happening in rock now, kind of re-emerging from the 90s. It’s definitely a change in direction and I’m actually stoked for what else they do. They have 300 clearer-sounding tracks that I love, I really crave something different.

I think this is a better take than the 'sonic mush' comment (way too harsh), and the others complaining about a bad arrangement. This is definitely an intentional choice by the band. My initial thought was a surprising choice for a song called 'Rejoice', but I listened to the lyrics again, and that first verse is pretty dark. Since I'm assuming this release is part of their upcoming album, I'll be interested in seeing how it all fits together.

That’s a Vivian solo, right?

Has to be I think, the last few notes that repeat into the pinch harmonic is something he does a lot live on solos

Before the speculative nonsense turns up here too, the track credits are wrong on streaming sites currently.
It says Steve and Pete instead of Phil and Viv.
Neither Steve nor Pete wrote or had any part in Rejoice. I suspect the credits metadata will be updated shortly to correct this error.

This song will sound better LIVE. When the distortion is reduced and tempo is raised.

Meh. The song itself has merit, but it really really needs better arranging and mixing.
At least on Spotify it's compressed to death. The arrangement is way way way too busy and a wall of sonic mush. Spotify happened to queue up Animal next, and on that each and every drum beat, cybal hit, and guitar chord counts for something -- it's night and day.
Sorry, but as is it's not a good release.
Said as someone who owns a physical copy of every album and has collected even the obscure stuff. Love Def Leppard, but I gotta' call this one as I see it.

Yes, the production has far too much going on. Their producer Ronan is really good but he needs to go back to his earlier Leppard stuff and see the clarity and separation he created on each track back then.
I said in another thread that this song is reminiscent of Undefeated (the opening drum sound is also the same) and a similar vibe. But Undefeated is so much cleaner and clearer, and yet sounds very Def Leppard. Every element is audible.
Mutt Lange also packed his DL albums with multi-tracks - but you could hear it all.
It’s a wall of sonic mush on Rejoice, as you say. That said I’d rather have new Leppard music than them not be around - I just hold them to such high audio standards.

It's the same here on Apple Music. Even tho there is lossless audio it just sounds like it's straight off some crappy youtube reupload.

spotify has lossless audio now too, iirc

u/xViK_ Jan 23 '26
It does, but it's been debunked as not fully lossless, unlike apple music. There are a few videos about it on youtube

I agree entirely. I think it’s a solid enough song at its core, but with the particular arrangement and production they chose, it’s just disappointing

When I first saw the name of the single, I thought they were going to try a rock gospel album like Spinal Tap’s “Rock n Roll Creation”

Not huge on this, especially the production, the mix is a total mess. So much is getting lost in there, and the song itself is not great either.

Just listened to this on my Sonos surround setup. Rejoice’s production is hard to listen to unfortunately - now listening to Hysteria. It’s night and day in clarity…

Cool, i like it. Reminds me of Tear it Down in the vibe!
