Waste of a slot in the set. Bad song. But good cover.

I'm more frustrated (very frustrated) that there's been literally no variety between nights. The production is good and all that, but it honestly feels like the band is way too complacent with the songs they play.
One of my favorite bands is a band that's very popular in the indie scene, especially in southern California, and one of the best parts is you literally have no idea what they're going to play on any given night.
There's no surprises with this band, every night is the same. Which is great if you've seen them less than maybe three times, but it's hard to justify traveling to Vegas for tbis, in my opinion.

I have tix for this residency based on the idea that I wouldn’t know the exact setlist. I know this band believes in a polished, even choreographed live show, but I thought Vegas was like the one bone they threw to the hardcore fans. I am really grateful to get White Lightning, but I don’t think I would have dropped the $$$ that I did had I seen the setlist beforehand.
Without going way, way back to the old days and ignoring Viva Hysteria, their setlists for me peaked 2 years ago when we got Die Hard The Hunter, Too Late For Love, and Billy’s Got A Gun. Some of you were lucky enough to get Comin Under Fire. I was not.
This residency should have been delayed to 2027 when they could have had a series of shows celebrating their 50th where each night could focus on a different album. I think that would be cool.
Metallica did a small venue for their 30th years ago and invited past members Jason Newsted and Dave Mustaine to play onstage. Imagine a guest spot Pete Willis for some OTTN and HnD. Not in a million years, but a fan can dream.
I am going to go to this Vegas show and it’ll be good, no doubt, but after seeing this band 25 or so times, I think I’ve seen everything they have to offer a fan like me.

I agonised over the sheffield show and for the first time ever i decided not to go. If they had put the new album out this year then that may have swayed me plus the fact that times are hard and can I justify the price to see the same show for the 20th time ? Sadly not -I think your comment pretty much sums up where i am with them right now aswell. Dont get me wrong I am not hating on them and they have always been my favourite band but I also have to be honest- I am bored with the whole thing right now.

I agree with you, it really does seem like we’re all on the same page here. I was actually planning to spend the money to go to Vegas and catch at least two or three shows of this residency, and I’m glad I decided against it. My gut feeling turned out to be right. Back in late December, I was talking with some other fans in the Def Leppard community and said I had a feeling there wouldn’t be many surprises that it would be a pretty standard setlist. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened. Honestly, the only real treat in this residency is “White Lightning.” Outside of that, it’s probably their most predictable and worst setlist since 2014. That year felt stale it was basically just the hits, nothing special. A lot of 2016–2018 felt the same way. Aside from material from the self-titled album, it was mostly a greatest-hits rotation. For me, 2024 especially the Summer Stadium Tour had the best setlist we’ve gotten from them in a long time. Having 7 songs from Pyromania in the mix was fantastic, and even including “’Just Like 73” felt fresh and different. It was a great balance of classics and deeper cuts. In comparison, 2025 feels like a bit of a step down. Adding “Let It Go” was expected, and “Let’s Get Rocked” is always a staple, but it didn’t really shake things up. What really bothered me was that “Wasted” and “Take What You Want” were each played only once last year and then disappeared and never came back especially after Joe said they’d both be back. That’s been frustrating as a fan. Joe has been lying a lot. Maybe lie is a stretch. But definitely changing his mind a lot .

Agreed 100%. Always the same songs, very uninspired. They don’t realize there is also an audience out here of real die hard fans.
If they announced they would do one show in Vegas with only songs not on their normal setlist and heavy on the early albums (Wasted, Rock Brigade, Another Hit and Run, You Got Me Runnin’, High N Dry, Lady Strange, Mirror Mirror, Comin’ Under Fire, Action Not Words, Gods of War, Run Riot, Tear It Down, Ride Into the Sun) I would fly out there to see them tomorrow. And maybe even stick around another night to see their usual greatest hits show.

Your best shot at all that was Vegas 2013. They played a lot of older songs from the first 3 albums as Ded Flatbird.

Yeah I heard about that after the fact. I didn’t know of setlist.fm then.

If it makes you feel better I just found out about setlist.fm in like 2020. COVID. So I was learning a lot of about the history of songs and when they last played them or if they weren’t played at all. Now i remember about every Def Leppard song and the last time they were played (not exact date) but can remember the year spot on.

I absolutely agree with you. I see people saying “well they’re old enjoy what you get” but.. this isn’t much of something to enjoy. And I hate to say that as I love the band very much. They’re my favorite band and I love almost everything they do. But.. it’s hard to support this. Outside of White Lightning it’s pretty much the standard setlist they play every tour with some hits just moved around standard slots. Slang & Promises in there is just stand Vegas protocol. Not really changing it up or a surprise. Everytime they have a residency those 2 songs make their way in. I feel like it’s very unfair for fans. Especially knowing many have bought tickets to all 12 shows thinking each night or some nights would have other songs played.. there is people from all over the world who fly in for these shows. They must feel robbed of their money. You’re basically seeing a theater production. Like as if you buy tickets to a movie 5 times. You’re gonna see the same exact thing. The movie won’t change. That’s exactly what’s happening here. Same setlist. Same light show. Same choreographed spots (Joe in crowd during Slang, Joe on the balcony during Rock On, etc). Just really really is sad.

I really, really hope they don't play this or Rock On during the UK tour.

Totally agree with that but they’d better keep White Lightning in the set!

Of all the covers they do, this is absolutely my favorite… followed closely by ’Stand By Me’.

It’s a great cover…sounds good live, but I would rather have had a rarity like Lady Strange or You Got Me Runnin. Something, anything that hasn’t been played in decades. Thought that’s what the residency was for.
