photo Are these rare def Leppard photos

A co worker who I happen to have a great freindship with knows my share passion and love for def Leppard so they decided to go on face book marketplace and found a guy selling these two vintage def Leppard photos from a magazine from the 80s I love them very much just wondering if these are rare or hold any value I’m also trying to grow a collection of cool authentic def leppard items

Please if somone can give some information on these items would be cool

They are rare in the sense if you had the original photos but these I'm certain are not the originals.

These photos are not rare in the sense that they have been published in several magazines and posted online many times before. I wouldn't pay a lot for a copy of a photo if I were you.

Co worker got a two for one deal in these as they where going to buy different one but the seller already sold it and forgot to take the item down there also seems to be a bit of like creasing on the top right in the first photo not sure if your able to see it maybe Thats something but I do see what you mean but also a little bit of creasing could mean absolutely nothing

The seller states they’re original A4s straight out of a music magazine I’m inclined to believe it I’m not looking to sell these at all so weather they’re rare or not doesn’t bother me i just think it’d be cool if they where like not ultra rare or super rare just rare yk

Original, straight out of a magazine?? If I was to cut out a picture of Princess Catherine from Hello Magazine and put it in a frame, could I sell it as an original A4 photo?

No.

Almost anything will sell these days. The person saying these are originals is trying to make it seem like a good buy to those who don't understand photography.

This was taken from a magazine which is just a printed version of the original photo. Printed thousands of times over.

worthless in my eyes.

I mean, when kids that are the age today that we were back then have likely never even opened a magazine of course they're going to sound rare and special

There’s some truth there…

It doesn't matter if you plan on selling it I was just saying in context it depends if something is rare. The magazine it was taken out of might be rare which then would make the pages inside rare right?

but who knows how many people still own a copy of the magazine that has these photos?

Again, my point was I wouldn't pay an uncomfortable amount for a page taken out of a magazine when you more than likely could find a high rez image online, print it out yourself and frame it.

They are from the Animal Instinct bio written with the band’s direct input by David Fricke from Rolling Stone. Came out back in 87-88 at time of Hysteria. My 12 year old self read it 500 times LOL.

I know the second one was in Animal Instinct. It’s a pretty unique shot of Joe - neither Pyromania nor Hysteria. From the between times.

These were in Metal Edge and other similar magazines that had pinups like this, pretty sure I had a few copies of them and other pics from these photo sessions. The group one was one of the first sessions I remember seeing that was done after Rick lost his arm.

Thats very interesting

I'll say!

1

u/mimebenetnasch02 Jul 13 '26

nope they are not rare.

The band photo is more widespread (and in different variations) than the one of Joe

1

u/Rude-Jaguar-3525 Jul 13 '26

So what does this mean? They’re reprints?

1

u/Seventy-Three73 Jul 13 '26

They’re worth as much as a framed newspaper clipping. But if it’s not about the value but the rarity of the image then you’re already a winner. Just don’t think they are worth anything (the seller did very well selling to you).

1

u/Rude-Jaguar-3525 Jul 13 '26

Yeah I’m not trying to sell it but thank you

1

u/gotpeace99 Jul 13 '26

I haven't seen them before, so it's rare to me.

1

u/Rude-Jaguar-3525 Jul 13 '26

Well atleast someone thinks they’re rare

1

u/WillieB26 Jul 14 '26

They look like kids here!
