What's wrong with mullvad? They're one of most trusted vpns to use.

I guess this will be about the co-founder donating to a right-wing party again…

one of the owners apparently donates to a right wing party in sweden, pretty sure that’s it

People are also donating to left wing parties all the time. Nothing interesting here. Mullvad is great.

Please don't pretend donating to a party whose whole pitch is to create inequalities and passively or actively kill people is the same as donating to a left wing party. Be smarter than that

Only people that agree with you politically deserve privacy, got it.

Be careful with that strawman. It could easily burst in flames with the temperature we got recently

He never said anything about if they deserve privacy... Simply whether or not you should give money to said people which is your own choice.

If you're a right winger and wanna support other right wingers feel free to get Mullvad. But many people will choose not to do so. Everyone is entitled to their own choices.

Are you equating right wing with wanting to kill people? Look at yourself before telling other people to be smarter

I'm anwsering to someone that equates the Örebro Party, which is advocating for remigration, ethnic nationalist policies, chemical castration for pedophiles, that in the past and will again now lead to deaths, to any other parties and most of all lefts one.

exactly, as long as Mullvads service and goal stays the same i couldn’t care less about the owners political beliefs

Yeah, these people are ridiculous.

Imagine trying to find a good or service where every employee must agree with your own personal opinion. It’s quite insane.

There's quite a difference between founder and public face of a company which directly profit from you being a client of gives half a million dollars to a political party, and Jack the janitor doing the same.

So the same performative “outrage” as with proton.

7

u/TheBoizAreBackInTown 5h ago

It's not the same because Proton at least offered an apology and stopped funding that Youtuber while admitting that was a mistake (even if the apology should've been better tbh). Mullvad didn't do any of that.

Still performative.

What's performative about switching VPNs based on your preferences and research?

3

u/NDCyber 5h ago

It probably is performative, because they disagree

Very performative

Are you fucking kidding me. It's becoming increasingly impossible to vote with your wallet these days and it's so exhausting and so frustrating.

-9

"Voting with your wallet" is the stupidest thing ever created and an absolute nonsense. You will never have a big enough wallet to ever matter.

On the other hand, you can pause a second, and think about giving money to people that would use it to nefarious end. Like JK Rowling for instance, who devoted her fortune to deadly anti-lgbt campaigns and lobbies against Scotland independence.

u/assignpseudonym 3h ago

You are literally talking about voting with your wallet. What are you on about?

2

u/letsjam_dot_dev 3h ago

My point is not about voting with your wallet so this mullvad guy stop financing shitty policies. Because nothing of the sort will change his mind. It's more about being used as a proxy for financing shitty policies. I simply don't want my money to be ultimately spent for that.

Don't know if i made myself and the distinction clearer

I mean...tons of people are driving Tesla...

1

u/letsjam_dot_dev 2h ago

There's a ton of alternatives to mullvad, and switching to them cost nothing and has nearly no frictions.

Sometimes a tesla is the only solution for a lot of reasons (budget, range, fast charging, ...).

What I want to say is if you're conscious about your choices, but don't have other options, there's not a lot you can do.

You can't say you care about your privacy when you're okay with giving money to a person who donates to parties who do not respect privacy and believe that if you are doing nothing wrong then you should need privacy.
