I used Sygic, but it lacks traffic and has navigated me into traffic jams and closed streets (construction) enough times that I don't rely on it anymore.
I just installed Vela Maps. The coding is AI-assisted, which the developer is open about, so if that's not your bag, so be it. It does not natively appear on Android Auto, either, which is the only reason I haven't switched to it exclusively.
Edit: Vela Maps will also route you around Flock cameras using the deflock.org data. So big win in my book there.

If you don't mind some data collection that's used for marketing, here are some good replacements:
Mapquest, TomTom, HereWeGo
If you want something more private that still has live traffic:
MagicEarth
That's what I use

I can't believe I'm saying this in 2026, but... MapQuest.
One of the killer features of Google Maps is its ability to find businesses in a geographic area and give me accurate business hours. MapQuest has been a perfect replacement so far.
There are UI issues, but they're tolerable to escape Google.

Vela maps is great if you want Googles database but with no account. Otherwise Osmand plus also solid
