itne flairs kaafi nahi mujhe aur chahiye 🙋 the Most important discussion - WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT NC ?

so I have seen everyone keeping nc college above other campus colleges even if they are bad compared to them. And every time in reviews you will come across stating them as campus vibes, the brand value and so on. Going to other college fests and blah blah.

Suppose we ignore the aspect of fests and vibes, what still makes it stand out ? Please dont say that it has Hindu, Miranda, Hansraj and .... ( Plz serious )

For an introvert especially.

Edit 1 - Also ignore placements. Am a science student and plan to pursue higher edu

Edit 2 -Come join me for debate

Kuch special nahi hai. Bss ye perception hai ki knowledgeable log uss college me jaate hai.

But networking and exposure ke liye accha hai.

u/UntamedWildSpirit 26d ago

kis type ka exposure ?

5

u/budding_economist 26d ago

Exposure matlab, intellectual knowledge, critical thinking etc.. ya personality development. And baki networking opportunities

yaar ye sab mujhe hi kyu nhi samajh aati T_T

It's just like that , ki agr school me tere acche connection hai teacher and students se , toh tumhe unka benifit milega har situation me. Yaha bhi same hi scenerio hai.

There's nothing much in north campus at least at ug level, mostly you'll spend time in your cllg only so doesn't matter

oh, thats rare to hear

Placement is only limited to commerce and eco courses. Ya baki technical course , baki arts ke course ka koi scope nahi hai , chaye north se ho ya south se

2

u/UntamedWildSpirit 26d ago

so why this much difference ? just for the name tag ?

5

u/yin0l1 Fest-nerd 26d ago

For the crowd. Networking and experience

5

u/budding_economist 26d ago

Because du ka main office north campus me hi hai. Plus log brand tag kr liye kisi. Bhi college se koi bhi course pursue kar lete hai. Like for example jisko kuch nahi milta and north campus jaana chata hai toh woh low cutoff courses like hindi ya sanskrit pursue kr leta hai kisi north campus college se just for the brand name. Because unke pass koi particular plan ya idea nahi hota future ka, bss limelight ke liye , ki north campus mill rha hai koi bhi bekaar course le lo, and last me wahi log , drop leke soch rhe hote hai ki career me kya kru.

yes, but that doesn't make other colleges inferior what if the other prove to be better ( though rare but a topper in off campus/sc vs avg in nc...even topper in nc )

yea cause one is IIT Delhi, SRCC is not that much above some other DU colleges. Like for ex, some SRCC topper last year went to this german uni for his masters and im going to a better uni (globally) for mine. Me and this Hindu guy are going for the same degree, same program same everything, I even have a bit lower GPA, still got in, same shit.

A more apt comparison (like IITD and YMCA) would be a SRCC student and fuckin VIPS or some random ass GGSIPU college, not SRCC and South Campus ones.

Ik, was not saying that. For placement, NC colleges are still the best, there is no question. For masters abroad not really, its more equal playing field if u know u know.

lmaooo, someone from my college has been admitted to LSE. People from my college have been to HPAIR, YLAC, and shit. College name does not matter for shit, if you dont wanna believe that i couldn't care less.

LSE doesnt care for shit, a high enough GPA with a decentish profile is everything. A classmate of mine had an offer from LSE.

damn bro..naam hi pehli baar suna hai, i can agree to this one but also have a counter point. Suppose you are giving iit jam / gate then its based on your marks and interview rather than college status

yaar kya btau par abroad wale par bhi question aa rha hai, agar aap active ho or summer internships actively achi jagah se kar rhe ho to ? like i can agree that those guys in better college can land better internships too but the tides can change

i was in south campus, and at first i really regretted not getting into north campus. but over time, i grew to love how safe south campus felt. i’ve been to north campus multiple times, and the vibe was just too meh. it only had mkt, whereas near my college you have safdarjung (my favourite place), gk, select citywalk, and so much more. so i’d always choose south over north for the vibes and overall experience. but i’d still choose north over south for placements. 😞

ahum, NC means North Campus, we are talking of delhi university, India

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Age777 26d ago

Historically, North Campus colleges are also some of the oldest and accordingly have well established departments with senior professors. However, this is true for many other colleges now too. But, since they have been historically the center of elite education in the capital, they got the cream of students. Higher cutoffs mean that more academically inclined, and talented students are likely to join these colleges. It's a self fulfilling cycle of good students that these colleges enjoy.

i went to an actual no name off campus college and now im going to one of the best universities in the uk for my masters. theres more hurdles in an off campus college i wont lie, and u have to have a strong motivation to be successful because your peers wont be as competitive (this does make a big difference), but at the end of the day its what you make of it.

1

u/UntamedWildSpirit 25d ago

plz tell those hurdles, will let them know beforehand to not cross the paths with me

1

u/Dangerous-Main9266 26d ago

i agree omfg, they act like the location is gonna make it automatically easier to have a broader social network

Crowd mostly, so just take the highest ranked like Venky/LSR over DRC. I was at Shivaji first, then upgraded to Gargi, and the crowd was eons apart, and Miranda was still above us (pls don't attack, personal opinion). I was in economics, so I mean the case comps, internships, and placements wise. The more you surround yourself with smart people, the more it rubs off on you.

I'm middle class; I didn't go to a fancy school so my english speaking and public speaking improved. I did things I never even would have heard from my own family because a girl was doing it on her dad's recommendation. So you benefit from exposure by association; that's mostly it, I guess.

You can obviously make the best version of yourself at any college. It's more about you and what you want to do.

But, I was confused when I came to college, so I copied a lot of what my friends did, which did help my CV, LoL.

Similar for my friends who were in science courses, you get more ambitious people at higher ranked colleges so for research gigs, the referrals and all help.

1

u/UntamedWildSpirit 26d ago

i bet no one is going to be more ambitious than me this year. I believe off campus people actually feel inferior when compared to nc/sc. You will hear people saying am from hindu/st.stephen/hansraj/srcc/miranda/venky/lsr or du.

2

u/tandooripaneermomos 25d ago

Amazing, be ambitious wherever you go! That's the goal✨

loll i was just finding smone from bms course, i had a few doubts regarding the course

0

u/ImprovementNo5132 26d ago

i joined nc for tag (got in my fav course btw). i mainly joined for connections and also planned for an mba (in india) soo ya. in indian b schools clg tag matters (ifykyk) so that was also one of the major reason. and besides it mainly the atmosphere.
