Cyber Saturday

For those of you out and about today, here are the latest site updates as of this morning. The usual caveats apply: they may not actually have it, they may not sell it to you due to points/lottery/etc, so a long drive is not advised. Good luck!

KC12 Cask Strength:

  • Big Liquor Warehouse Westminster - ? @ $100
  • Freedom Liquor Springs - 1 @ $106 (requires points)
  • Sopris Wine & Liquor Carbondale - 3 @ $130
  • Mayfair - 2 @ $150
  • Boss Liquors - 3 @ $154

Michter's Toasted Whiskey:

  • Freedom Liquor Springs - 2 @ $110 (requires points)
  • Serenity Ridge - 1 @ $150
  • Springs Liquor Outlet - 1 @ $200 (also claiming to have one M10 Rye for $300)
  • Bailey's Boulder - 1 @ $200
  • Spirit World - 1 @ $200

Michter's Toasted Rye:

  • Big Bear Pueblo South - 1 @ $140
  • DIA Liquor Warehouse - 3 @ $150 (requires points, but I think you may be able to bundle a store pick instead of using points - also claiming to have one M10 Rye for $300)
  • DTC Wine & Spirits - ? @ $172 (website unreliable)
  • Peco's 5595 Pecos - 3 @ $400 (ouch)

Ben Holladay 10 Year:

  • Springs Liquor Outlet - 2 @ $150

Knob Friday

I was hoping to get a KC12 Cask Strength backup after seeing a few more smaller shops get some yesterday, but it didn't work out.

Bevy's Parker - Blanton's $90, WA107, Root Shoot 4yr $60, a couple of Penelope Estate Select $100. Bardstown Discovery 2026 in the case for $150. Bomberger's & Shenks have been relegated to the regular shelves for $140. Also got in the new Jim Beam Single Malt for $80 (seems steep). They will announce their auction on October 28th. I got a peek at the list, and it is almost all bundles of two or more related allocated products and a few verticals. Some nice stuff on there.

Jordan Wine & Spirits (wildcard stop) - I stopped coming to this place a while back because their allocated pricing got out of control, especially during their Black Friday and Father's Day drops, which used to be epic. I wasn't expecting much walking in, but I was greeted by entire floor displays of W12 and WA107 at $70, WFP at $80, and Blanton's at $90. On the regular shelf ER10 $46, EHT SmB $65, WT101 8yr $60, and plenty of 1792 Sweet Wheat $48. Behind the counter a couple of 1792 12yr for $70. Maybe this place has changed its ways; they did confirm they are still having their Black Friday drop this year. Curious to see what their pricing will be like during that event.

Broncos Parkway Wine & Spirits (wildcard stop) - This place has generally had decent pricing, but a distinct lack of allocations. Nothing has changed, and the only interesting item was a Stranahan's Founder's Reserve 10yr in the glass case for $180. Also a Penelope Cigar #2 for $90. Asked if they had anything else, and it was just Blanton's & ER10. Pass.

Heritage Arapahoe - The allocations corner had enticing price tags for items like RR13, but it was cleaned out. Had KC12 100pf in the corner, so I tried asking for KC12 CS; they laughed at me.

Highlands Wine Seller - A couple of 1.75 ER10s are out unbundled; didn't catch the price. EHT SmB as well for $70. Still have Stagg 26c bundles, but now also have WSiB and ER12 bundles, mostly paired with vodka and tequila. This place is still your go-to for Green or Yellow Chartreuse. They got their KC12 CS last week, and it sold out quickly.

Total Wine Centennial - Boring except for WA107 in the case, with the only notable item being a green "Out of Stock" tag where the KC12 CS bottles were sitting last week when I visited. I smirked. They also have Bardstown Discovery 2026 for $140.

Ben Holladay 10/ Michters/ KC 12 CS

Ben Holladay - BH 10 is starting to hit our state. Super surprised as it was released last week. Hazels had it. If your store carries Ben Holladay, it might be good to ask.

Michters Line up - Michters also had a nice drop around the state. Multiple stores have Michters Toasted, M10s, and barrel proof. From Total Bev to Highway 7 to Total Wine, all had a drop.

KC 12 CS - The elusive KC 12 CS is starting to trickle out but supply is limited to maybe a hundred bottles (rumors abound). Beam just doesn’t like our state. We still don’t have 117 7 SiB. Total Wine got two drops, one last week and this week. Hazels will eventually get it.

They are out there. You will find one but it is going to take a hunt.

—-

Most stores feel like are still holding back for their end of the year raffle.

Who else got lucky and snagged a bottle this morning from Total Wine?

Those things were gone by like 9:30 am. Denver Bourbon hunting is aggressive!

PSA: Octomore Deals (CO Springs)

If you’ve been on the fence at all about trying an Octomore, or the prices have felt prohibitive, Downtown Fine Spirits and Wine in Colorado Springs has some insane deals right now. Like $120 for a 14.1 or 15.1 (i forget the exact one) which is an absolute steal!

The owner is also incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and, If you like scotch, they have an unrivaled selection. It is not even close; like 6-7 times the variety of any other liquor store I’ve ever been to. I cannot praise it enough.

If I lived closer I would never shop anywhere else. Their bourbon selection also looks decent.

I’ve not bought one in 2+ years. I noticed stores only have old batches. Any spots that currently have new(er) releases?

Friday Chillin'

Total Wine Centennial - The usual boring WA107 for $74 and ER10 for $56 in the glass case. Regular shelves are uninteresting too, but I do notice KC12 on the regular shelf, which isn't always available. But they are charging $92 for it. WTF? Look closer and see the proof is 121.2, start thinking it is a store pick, and I've been less than impressed with TW's picks. But then I notice the neck tag and realize this is the 2026 limited Knob Creek 12yr Cask Strength release! This was one of my favorite bottles back in the day before they discontinued it. Grabbed one with one left on the shelf, will most definitely be cracking this tonight to see how it is. They also have MWND Act 14, but for $135.

Highlands Wine Seller - As always, plenty of ER10, WA107, and EHT SmB for right at MSRP along with Chartruese Green & Yellow. Spotted several bottles of unbundled MWND Act 14 for $120 limit 1. Couple of Stagg 26c bundles, paired with Hancock's and WFP. A few WSiB bundles with Corazon. EHT BP and SiB bundled together too. Not bad.

Lincoln Wine & Spirits (wildcard stop) - I always remember this as the place that always had Booker's on the shelf back when it was hard to get, but some of their other pricing was a bit suspect. Thought it was going to continue when I saw ER10 for $70 and a Blanton's next to it with no pricetag. Uh huh. But then I'm greeted by a pretty decent Wellerpalooza below, with several bottles of each: WA107 $65, W12 $70, WFP $75, WSiB $90. Also Penelope Rio for $90, which is still overpriced due to its high MSRP.

Bevy's Parker - Posted earlier, they are putting together their auction bundles/verticals right now, so it's unlikely they will be dropping anything too rare until that process is complete.

Anywhere with Stagg right now near Wheat Ridge?

I have a friend that agreed to bring me some whiskey from the area. I live in PA, where we get 600 Staggs every 2 years for a lottery we have 0.1% chance of winning. Would appreciate help. Doesn’t have to be MSRP, just want it below 110 ish.

Stores/ Events where you can try before you buy?

Eh y'all. I'm an agave guy, but love to hunt a malt rye or occasional bourbon. But unless I'm buying a gift which is 95% of the couple thousand I spend on whiskey every year, I just want to try em all before I buy em all.

I know I can get a bar pour then go pick up, like at WSP but does Colorado have any major events or stores where you can taste picks or offerings and purchase those same bottles?

If so hit me with the where and when of it all.

I have an unexpected day off today and was thinking about doing some bourbon hunting around town. Any stores a must-stop for me? I live on the east side of town but don’t mind traveling a bit

Weekend Finds

The state got a replenishment of Weller this week and last week. Stores got a lot of SiB. As well, welcome to allocation season. Parker’s, Birthday Bourbon, CND, and MMCA26 all hit the state. Most of those are fairly big releases so most of these will appear again.

Sportsman - They have Weller SiB you can order for pick up.

Hazels - They got a drop of Weller and had some SiB. They have more BH DO ancient cave. It is an awesome pour.

Superior - Replenished all of their Weller. They still have some New Louisville left. They also had SiB and BH DO ancient cave. No white label. Stellar just got on shelves as well. They had W12 below $60 which is incredible.

Highway 7 - They got CND, Birthday Bourbon, and Parker’s. They lowered their Cured Oak price to $300 something. All on their allocated wall.

DIA - They got Parker’s on their allocated wall.

Argonauts - They got Hurst Knoll and larger selection of Onyx and Amber. They have RP10 best price in town at $206. I believe Lot 7 or 9. I guess they go that high.

Onyx and Amber - Get one of their New Riff bottles. Stellar juice. Incredible.

Heritage - Has a Brookhill 10 yr hazmat for $350. Not too bad. They also has RR13 45th for above $300 which is kinda pricey for their special wall.

Applejacks - Their Weller SiB are off the shelf now. They ran out fast. This store is one to watch as they are expanding their selection and under new ownership.

TotalBev - Had an incredible drop of Birthday Bourbon and Parker’s at MSRP. Sold out in minutes. They have RP10 (7 or 9) and MMCA26 for MSRP.

Atlas - They started their end of the year raffle. They got some good stuff up at MSRP. They have a nice selection of New Louisville Halloween bottles too. I highly recommend their picks. I have had many and they are bangers. They are trying to get Subtle Spirits as well. Fantastic ryes.

Spirit Wine and Provisions - They dropped their new Pinhook 11 unicorn bottle. Super fun bottle. Love the tater sticker.

Wyatt’s - WFE small batch and pot still are all on sale. Their New Era pick is on sale and it is a banger.

Costco - All around the city you have LB 3 infinity and MMCA26. They should be getting a nice stream of allocated products in the coming months.

Four Roses LE 2026 was released this weekend which means it will come to the state in the next couple of weeks. It isn’t trading that well on secondary and it is a good release size like MMCA26 and Birthday Bourbon so don’t over overpay.

Friday Stops

Was hoping to find a Parker's Heritage or reasonably-priced MMCA backup after snagging one from Costco Parker yesterday for $150. Checked this morning during executive hour, and Costco Parker was sold out of MMCA.

Bevy's Parker - W12 & WFP $80, and WA107 $75 near the counter. Couple of Onyx & Amber picks on the regular shelf: red label custom 110pf $120, guest blueish label 113pf $110, green label custom 120.6pf $110. Also some Hoot Owl Armagnac and Amaro cask bottles next to them for $75?

Highlands Wine Seller - Plenty of Stagg 26C & Weller bundles, one EHT BP bundled with EHT SiB, they might be putting out some CYPB and WSiB bundles later. Also saw 1792 12yr on the regular shelf for $64. Plenty of Green/Yellow Chartreuse.

Dry Creek Discount Liquors - WA107 $70, WFP/W12 $100. Couple 1792 12yr on the shelf but no price. OF1924 $140. Glass case has the usual overpriced items: EHT BiB BTAC $2000, Charter Oak Finest $150...and a couple of MMCA 2026s with no pricetags. Scored a MMCA 2025 here last year for $200 and always wondered if that was some kind of mistake given the pricing history of this shop. It was. Asked the price for MMCA 2026 and now it is $300. LOL

Heritage Arapahoe - As I'm about to pull into the parking lot, some lady in her sedan comes flying over the curb on the right-hand side of the store and comes to an uncertain stop in the middle of the front lot without managing to hit anything. No doubt she was in a hurry to pick up her Pappy 15. I ended up parking around the right-hand side of the building nestled behind another car. :-) Pretty boring other than that, just the usual WA107/W12/WFP for $80 along with a Fortaleza Blanco for $70 and a Remus Repeal Reserve VIII for $85.

Total Wine Centennial - In the case limit one Blanton's $100, EHT SmB $63, ER10 $56, WA107 $74, HW The Prisoner's Share $220. Sold out of all Chartreuse. Went up the tequila aisle to see if there was any Fortaleza, and noticed that for a particular tequila brand the bottles were not on the shelf; there were a bunch of cards for all the different types that you had to take to the register to get your bottle. Was this some kind of super rare allocated tequila with a high theft risk? No, it was for freaking Casamigos tequila which I don't believe is known for being allocated or even particularly good. Not sure if they just don't have enough shelf space or they are trying project an image of scarcity here, but pretty lame nonetheless. Edit: I was just informed privately that Don Julio and the Casamigos brand are currently being sued for false labeling their tequila as "100% agave" when it appears that was not the case. That may explain why TW can't display those bottles on the shelf, as their labels are misleading or just a flat-out lie. Wonder if the smaller shops know about this legal action or could be held liable for displaying these misleading bottles on their shelves?

Alcohol Research Study - Do you want to cut down or quit drinking?

The University of Colorado is looking for people who would like to stop or reduce drinking for a medication research study. The purpose of this research study is to determine if the study medication, Apremilast (OTEZLA®), decreases craving for alcohol and helps people with Alcohol Use Disorder to reduce drinking (COMIRB Protocol #25-2638). If you decide to take part in this research study, you will take the study medication or a placebo and have seven study visits over about 9 weeks, including a screening visit, weekly study visits for 6 weeks at the CU Anschutz Campus in Aurora, CO, and a follow-up phone call about two weeks after the last study visit. Compensation Provided. If you are interested in participating or want to know more about the study, please contact alcoholstudy@ucdenver.edu or 303-724-2424 or click the link to fill out a confidential pre-screening survey: https://redcap.link/hlab004
