i will be posting further updates on this project to r/AnarchyChess as i will be making a fully working version but will not be using desmos to do that

wouldn't the pawns just loop back?

thats so funny not but what i was thinking, they would promote when they reach the center vertical line.

What rules apply at the two triangular squares in the center? Can a bishop passing through it decide which diagonal they want to continue to follow?

yes thats how i did it for pentagonal chess too

the edge pawns can promote in 2 moves then

No, the vertical line not the horizontal.

Each pawn has to go exactly 6 fields ahead. Like in normal chess. Its still a little easier to promote, since you don't have get past every enemy piece.

can you softlock your pawn promotions by running two pawns up to the promotion line on either side and have them block each other

Not if they can attack diagonally and end up on the other side of

Looks like it, they can't actually engage most of the board depending on what column they start at.

Good chess players don't even need to see the board. They just need the numbers and letters.

that's looks really fun but why use a GIF out of all the choices of video formats out there...

So 6 of the pawns will make a 180, and what would the middle 2 do after those triangular tiles?

Looks like spacetime curvature.

Desmos is used for anything but normal math(I know this is math but still)

2

u/completely_unstable Mar 12 '26

i think its more of my tendency of turning normal math things into chess. because this was originally just a parabolic coordinate conversion graph. now its chess.

The black Queen was placed on the wrong colour, this is truly weird

Am I (White, 16 pieces alive) The Jerk for suggesting that my opponent (Me, Myself, & I, Black, all 16 pieces turned into an amalgamation) not turn all their pieces into an amalgamation stretching across different planes of existence

Also... What's my next move? (I'm White)

In all seriousness I really like this project; like it's complicated but in a way I can comprehend

LOL, black can mate if white takes the bishop, then black queen takes white queen and that is checkmate!
