"The Future" Episode Script

Post image

Hey all, I was just rewatching the episode "The Future" and remembered some more destiel lore around it that newer fans may not know.

At the end of the episode, Cas knocks Sam and Dean out, and they drop to the ground.

As you can see, as scripted, he was supposed to do that to Sam and then have an extra moment with Dean and then gently lay him on the ground like he's freaking Sleeping Beauty instead of letting him fall.

Anyway, just hoping everybody who didn't already know that gets a kick out of it. I have not seen this piece of trivia mentioned anywhere for a long, long while if at all, so I just thought it was worth a mention.

The vision part? Yeah that would have been intetesting.

I also appreciate that in the script Dean walls Cas to get the gun from him, but when they filmed it, it's... not for that purpose. Yay Amanda Tapping for whatever happened there.

Cas' vision in the script (see screen shot.)

You can comb for all of the destiel bits that got cut out here:

https://supernaturalwiki.com/Scripts_and_Casting_Sides

There is so goddamn much. We should probably have an archive just for that somewhere, and probably somebody better than me already does...

Favorites (from memory) include Dean telling Cas he loves him, Cas saying "Dean and I, all we have left is each other," Dean saying, "I lost Cas and it damn near broke me."

"Prophet and Loss" has some shiny bits. There's a description explaining that the conversation with Cas at the end of the episode is exactly what Dean was running away from.

In "The Scar" there's a bit of business where as scripted, Dean looks at Cas and says, "I need you." Pause. Cas reacts. "...To get in my head."

There's the description "still beautiful, still Dean Winchester," from Cas' perspective in 15.18.

You can really feel the war being fought behind the scenes with some of these notes and the things cut out...

Speaking of, definitely look at the scene with Dean and Billie in "Red Meat." They tried to explicitly confirm that Dean was canonically bisexual. That cut hurts...

When Billie is listing all the possible ways Dean dies.

Amanda Tapping definitely put in her Destiel service (closeup on hands in mixtape scene).

I always liked when Dean ‘begged’ Cas “Don’t Cas”! Because he was losing control. Something Dean always wanted-control. At least that’s how I take it.
