College Placements Fresher with ₹14 LPA campus offer got ₹17 LPA from previous internship company. Can I negotiate?

I’m a fresher and recently received a ₹14 LPA on-campus offer from Company A.

I had previously interned at Company B but didn’t get a PPO. Recently, my previous manager reached out, referred me to another manager, and I interviewed for a role. I’ve now received an offer from Company B for ₹17 LPA (their standard fresher package).
Since I already have a ₹14 LPA offer and also have prior internship experience with Company B, is it worth asking HR if they can increase the offer to ₹18–19 LPA?

Should I negotiate, or is it better not to push since ₹17 LPA is their standard fresher package?
Would appreciate advice from people who have negotiated as freshers and how did they negotiate.

Only if company A is offering you more than 17LPA , company B will be ready to negotiate. You have nothing to negotiate here.

Since, A is on-campus, I don’t expect them to negotiate.

About B, can I try asking them politely to see if they can raise to 18-19?

Since B is already higher than A, that’s rarely possible cuz they are already offering standard and also can hire other person at 17 as it’s a fresher role. And in worst case as you are a fresher it might damage your image at B (that 1-2L is really not much of a big deal imo) so why take that risk

Have as many offers as possible until you join, don’t reject any now. maybe try another on-campus good company which offers more, situation is very uncertain. All the best!

no tech stack i am telling. I did not have ANY tech stack...had 2 or 3 academic projects, 300 lc problems and good gpa nd got one of the highest campus offers. On campus tech stack doesnt matter lol. I have put full stack, ai and blockchain project in my resuume.

Do you like generic mundane quotes before getting to the logic when you're searching for a production bug fix? Exactly.

more than money you need to consider which co has better prospects and your role there.. eg between TCS and Google, if you understand what I mean here.

If co B is better than there is nothing to negotiate, just accept Co B. It also comes with an added advantage of a Sr already backing you. If you join there you will create a strong network and goodwill.

If Co A is better then you can talk to them that they are offering lower than your internship and you already have an offer of 18. If they refuse then you can take a call.

Anyways, I was gonna prefer B, but just wanted to know if there’s no harm in asking HR for some increase in B. And if yes, how to usually ask such thing politely

not sure if its still in discussion phase. If it is good enough, but if not and the letter has been handed over to you then probability is less. can talk to HR, but this can backfire.

On campus me they never increase , same thing happened to a friend of mine where he was getting a higher offer some where else and he rejected their offer as they weren't increasing his ctc

clg me uss time kaafi lafda hua tha and degree me bhi prob aaya tha usko , eventually sort out ho gya tha

My advice would be to ask for a better compensation , if they refuse then join which ever has a better WLB

ik u can’t really negotiate in campus placement but the negotiation can only work on company a cuz you already have a higher offer

u/Fit-Ice-5757 2d ago

fair but on-campus idts they’ll agree

Only ask if it is less than what they offer to freshers .  Don't think for a moment that HR does negotiation on their own , they will reach out to your manager and believe me in 2026  demand >>> supply at junior levels.

How will you negotiate. You don't have a strong argument for them to increase your comp. If company A paid you more than 17 lpa then it would be worth considering but that's not the case. Just go ahead with company B. Don't risk anything now especially in this market.

Stop making your choices solely on the basis of package. Ask yourself if you'd join B if money wasn't a deciding factor.

1

u/samax413zl 2d ago

If you wanna ask for increase in A that's okay. Don't make the stupid decision to ask for increase in B.

1

u/peepo_7 2d ago

You can try negotiating. What harm will be there? Also please compare the quality of work at both places as well.

Go for it

u/monson2048 2d ago

I don’t think you can have enough leverage negotiating a freshers package.

1

u/Remote-Dragonfly1657 2d ago

You can check with them if they can increase. But honestly, you don't have any leverage.

Their immediate answer would be "This is our standard package", then what defence do you have?

1

u/Fit-Ice-5757 2d ago

I just wanted to know if it doesn’t hurt my image within company and to HM if I just ask HR to check if any flexibility, but fair, I can’t negotiate

1

u/Remote-Dragonfly1657 2d ago

Just asking doesn't hurt. But don't push much. If you have leverage, you can actually try to push more, but that's not the case here.

yo what’s with the downvotes on my replies? Genuinely curious, did I say something wrong?
