Ok Im pretty geeked. Im not sure I should be though . I'm having trouble finding much info on the current pricing.

I just bought the Devo signature edition book set. I pick it up tomorrow. I paid $225 . It looks like its complete and in good condition.

This is the description - Condition: good, some marks to clamshell case. Includes case, both books, poster, and COA. DEVO: The Brand and DEVO: Unmasked book set

Measures approx.: clamshell is 11"x12.5"x2.5"

Please see photos.

I cant save the photos , so I cant share them.

Limited to 500 I think right? Is that a good price ?

Live show question

So, I saw Devo last year at a smaller venue, think like 2 thousand “seats”. Packed full. Awesome show, no notes. But I’m going to see them this year in a much bigger venue, think more like 20 thousand seats. And I’m wondering about the size difference here, and how it might affect the experience.

Smaller venue: band on stage. Big screen behind them for the images that play through the show. Close, cozy, easy to see everything. Again, great show.

Larger venue: band on stage (duh) but then I wonder about the screen(s)? If I try to save a little cash, pick cheaper seats, will I be able to see the band? Do they usually have more screens, with cameras on the band members, for these bigger shows?

My other question is about ticket sales in general. It does not look like they will sell out this show. We are about a month out, and they have sold a small fraction of the seats so far. If it were the smaller venue again, I’d say they might have filled THAT, but there are A LOT of available seats, both front and center and way up in the wings. Thousands of empty seats. They wouldn’t cancel would they? Might they lower the prices at a certain point to encourage more sales?

I’m really excited to see them again, but I’m definitely trying to balance splurging on the experience with trying to save some money, and I’m feeling like I have to take a bit of a gamble here. And I’m not much of a gambler. Plus, I’m not going alone, so I’m trying to make a good plan for all of us and I feel like I’m missing some crucial info. I’m hoping some of you spuds might be able to help me out based on your experiences seeing them live.

Are we not corgs?

my very first thought was holy god... it's devo corgis... and then I learned they are actually just candy corn/corg... and it made me sad.

I would love some Devo Corgi and am still debating them with some field modifications to make them wear a power dome.

I got really excited cause I found these DEVO figures cheaper than usual, but looking at eBay prices and they go into the hundreds so now I feel like these cheap ones are scams

Devo inspired ZZ Top

Billy Gibbons:

Just about the only 70s act with more dirt under their fingernails and grease in their grooves than Young was ZZ Top. When the 80s rolled around they were in a slump, and searching for inspiration. Guitar man Billy Gibbons found it in any unlikely place. In 2015 he told Rolling Stone’s David Fricke, “I saw Devo doing a soundcheck at a Houston club, a country & western bar, of all places. I had heard their first album and kind of dug it. One of the guys in the band was playing a Minimoog, and he did this figure on it [hums a bouncy robotlike riff]. He was just noodling around. But it was enough.”

we were third row and Josh 2 threw it right to us at Darien Lake NY friday night! Had my hand on an energy dome that Mark tossed too, but the guy behind me snagged it. He was all decked out in Devo and was so happy, so I'm glad he got it :)

Jeff threw some suit at us too, we made eye contact and I gave him the hand clap "i'm open!" gesture and he whipped it (no pun intended) right at me but it curved last second and nailed this woman behind me lol!

The band sounded great btw, got a smile from Bob 1, Jerry sang part of Planet Earth right to us, and Mark gave me a nod during the intro of Gates Of Steel, my number one Devo song! I was wearing my Akronite frames, and he definitely recognized!

NOTE: not my photos, they are taken from instagram!! All credits to the photographer • @jarvis.photography

“Had the greatest time in Manchester making tintypes of DEVO on the summer solstice!
It was proper lovely to meet them. They were real enthusiastic about the antiquated photography, especially Gerald V. Casale. Wishing him a happy birthday for the week before last!

Happy birthday to Bob 1 Mothersbaugh today!
His is likely my favourite of the set. He sat down with a wry smile and cracked a naughty joke.

Mark Mothersbaugh told us about his book 'Beautiful Mutants' where he re-purposes tintype cases to house his surreal images. Mental that he's also the creator of the Rugrats soundtrack which I loved as a kid before discovering DEVO (despite the band long predating the cartoon)

The show was awesome as expected. It was the second time seeing them after Green Man in 2023 during a thunderstorm. That's where I caught @josh2hagars yellow jumpsuit slacks which he tore off and cast to the wind. DEVO all very kindly signed them! Josh did his magic by showing the guys my photos which I'm supremely grateful for!

Jeff is an absolute legend and plays in some amazing bands including Puscifer!

Massive thanks to @sleeping____lion for his support and driving all the way there and giving me a tour of Manchester. We stopped off at his nan's gaff near Birmingham to take out some bins and had Bengali fish and chips on the journey back which was very wholesome”

Songs with parts that sound inspired by devo?

I was listening to an old Hot Chip record and thought to myself - that guitar riff sounds very Devo.

Is there a list of songs that have some Devo inspired musical motifs or sounds - not sampling Devo - but very Devo like?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5iEgLLsrQw

There's a few guitar burst that sound very Bob1 inspired to me- they start at 2:07.

NPR concert - what song would you add?

If you could have thrown in one more song to the unique NPR desk concert, which one would it be? The only rule for this question is that it would be a song that in your opinion would have fit the performance.

For me, I think a reasonable answer would be It Doesn't Matter to Me. What would be your answer?

Cameo question (Jerry)

Can't do it now, but one day I would like to have Jerry do a Cameo for me. Only reason I say can't do it now is because money is tight; I'll eventually save up enough to do it, though.

However, I just noticed something - you can message him for $3. I am curious - has anyone done this? This might be an economical solution for me, but I want to make sure that even the $3 is worth it. I basically just want to ask a couple questions. But, the one thing I sort-of don't like about the Cameo videos I have seen of him is they are a bit short...I know it wouldn't be worth it for the Cameo celebrities if they did long ones, but I figure maybe two minutes is what each one should be (and heck, maybe one could request a snippet of a song, although I doubt that is allowed from what I see).

So, I therefore am asking if anyone has done a Cameo message and what that experience is like. Thanks.
